"Progress to reduce emissions has been slow, but regulations aimed at decarbonising the marine sector have triggered a search for alternative fuel technologies and strategies."

Just reinforces opinions regarding institutions such as the IMO being wholly ineffective. Its a no brainer that ships and heavy hydrocarbon fuel use should be treating the exhaust gas emissions along with using fuels which are engineered to be more environmentally geared to reducing polluting emissions.

Small particles given off by fossil fuels, meanwhile, are the “real villains in health effects”, the Shell report admits, as they can bring toxins, including carcinogens, “deep into the lungs which would otherwise be removed in the throat.”
These microscopic specks of soot and liquid, known as particulate matter, are expelled when fuels are burned and inhaled by people. In 1971, Esso, a forerunner to Exxon, sampled particles in New York City and found, for the first time, the air was rife with tiny fragments of aluminium, magnesium and other metals. Esso scientists noted that gases from industrial smokestacks were “hot, dirty and contain high concentrations of pollutants” and suggested further testing was needed for symptoms including “eye irritation, excess coughing, or bronchial effects”.
By 1980, Imperial Oil had outlined plans to investigate incidences of cancers and “birth defects among industry worker offspring”. Esso experts, meanwhile, raised the “possibility for improved particulate control” in new vehicle designs to reduce the emission of harmful pollution.

Good to hear today that potential clients/users are or have moved towards the environmental benefits of MSAR rather than it previously was a side issue to cost benefit. Seems folks now recognise msar's environmental attributes which now has more prominence and more of a primary consideration of the fuel rather than past considerations were merely lip service. Seems business/industry is waking up the costs of neglecting the planets present environmental needs.
"I think the company realise our frustrations....maybe some good news soon..."
I wouldn't bet on it, they certainly didn't when the S.P dropped to 1.5p last year, the bod have previous convictions for treating investors just like mushrooms....
Well if that's their assessment we are in big trouble:-
"An envoy from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) downplayed the environmental threat, saying the leaked fuel was “just like skin cream”."

Agreed but given the Pandemic I have given them the benefit of the doubt I can't help feeling if the pandemic had not occurred we would be further on with developments such as Morocco and the SP may have been a fair bit higher for this round of funding. We are where we are and I am feeling more upbeat regarding the prospects here.
"Think it will keep sliding without some good news"
So a declining S.P to raise further funds from.......I very much hope that's not the case. Come on Quadrise pick the socks up please.
foxm - I guess the holy grail would be an emulsion lignin/glycerol fuel, now that would be magic........

"Initially, experts thought engine damage from the breakage of piston rings and liner wear were caused by CLOs having compatibility issues with VLSFOs; however, more experience and tests have now led them to believe VLFSOs with delayed combustion and after burning characteristics to be the main contributor to these damages."

Oh dear.....looks like the game is up for VLSFO, should have gone to.......

"Do we have any contacts in British Airways as there looking for sustainable aviation fuel... the sky the limit for Quadrise..?"
Velocycs would be at the front of the que there but certainly scope for BioMsar to power the various diesel gen sets and ground fuelling trucks perhaps??
"crubber uptake has been quite widespread in the VLCC segment, with shipbroker Gibson estimating that up to 31% of the existing fleet already fitted with the systems, while by the end of 2021, that share is expected to increase to about 40%. Scrubber make more financial sense to larger ships, where the potential for savings from the use of the cheaper, high-sulphur fuels is bigger. Still, 2020 didn’t offer the savings expected as the spread between high-sulphur and low-sulphur fuels was diminished by the drop in oil price."

Some folks come late to the party.......or is he early..........
I think us early investors here in qfi could be in for a rewarding surprise, could be significantly fruitful:
"A booming rally in oil markets has pushed crude prices to their highest levels since near the start of the coronavirus pandemic, powered by production curbs and recovering demand."

Add BioMsar in the mix and we are on a winner winner chicken dinner:-
"Woodall said: ‘On a well-to-wake basis, EGCS-fitted vessels have a lower CO2 footprint than the most widely-used alternative fuel options of MGO and VLSFO.’
"Woodall also pointed to a CE Delft study comparing the CO2 emissions of MARPOL Annex VI compliance options in 2020.
The study ‘found the increase in CO2 footprint from the additional refining of MGO to likely be in the range of 10-15% and potentially as high as 25%,’ said Woodall. ‘In contrast, the increased CO2 from EGCS is only in the range of 1.0-1.5%.’
Woodall continued: ‘Therefore, there should be broader awareness that EGCS-fitted vessels show a significantly better CO2 performance than similar vessels using refined fuels for compliance, such as MGO/VLSFO. This supports the current ambitions of significantly lowering CO2 emissions by 2030.’"

"The government’s attempt to run aging power plants such as Zouk on cut-rate fuel oil, as part of its stopgap solutions, will consequently lead to more particulate emissions. Additionally, the use of this type of fuel for a long period will inflict further damage on aging equipment."
“The excessive use of fuel oil with a high percentage of sulfur would damage the engines’ internal and injection parts, in addition to the boilers in a power plant,” explained Yahya Mawloud, Chief Operations Officer at the Middle East Power, the company operating two new power units (reciprocating engines) at Zouk (194MW) and Jiyeh (76MW) which came online in 2017. Similar views were echoed by Harry Istepanian, a chartered engineer with extensive experience in large-scale power: “Sulfur is corrosive. It reduces the lifespan of equipment and increases maintenance costs.”

Foxm Wrote "Could this not dramatically change the economics of the Asphalt Ridge project, in fact massively increase the potential profitability of QFI generally?"
What I'm about to say is somewhat out there but cheap clean energy is the lifeblood of the bitcoin network according to Dr Ammous. See below link to Youtube talk, scroll through to minute 28 where he talks about energy & off peak energy use for the network. In the talk he also mentions using flared gas from oil production to power the computer grid perhaps Utah Msar & BioMsar could compete as a side show to the UTAH fuel utilisation assuming Bitcoin stands the money test of time of course:-

"But the prospects were stunning, forecasts of an SP of over 1000p if Maersk AND KSA came off"
like it.....so would HMRC......
I would think Maersk will be reconsidering MSAR fuel at this point so not to be left behind. Remember they stated after the interim lono that the previous fuel trial had delivered sufficient data for implementation meaning no more trials required however we now have biomsar so perhaps this is the game changer qfi stated recently.
