Well, Ian, Expert has an excuse of not having been here for long.
But I have posted since you arrived the reason behind my presence and what I get out of it.
I think it may have even been in response to one of your questions but am not sure.
Anyway, I'll remind you.

I have achieved my 'safety-net'.
My investment income is all tax-free, until I spend it.
I'm very happy with my life as it is and the style in which I choose to live it.
I could easily leave it where it is and just enjoy it.
Which I do do.
But I don't think it would be a very interesting life to live, without any goals.
So one of my goals and the main one is to leave me heirs a lottery win sized inheritance.
I'm already well on the way to that, which will irritate "Expert" even more as all of that is also in my name until I die.

But, let's not forget, that my explanation is all a "fantasy" and that I am just "a liar".
So it will not be of any help you or anyone else.
C'est la vie'.

Sorry to disappoint but, when you reach your own million, it's really not that big a deal.
You will also come to realise that it does not carry the importance you seem to give it.

I was a millionaire a long time before I thought about retiring and had even found this forum, "Expert".
Don't forget that I retired the first time at 54 and to receive an annual income of £40k, the thinking was that you'd need a pension of £1m.
*No idea of the current thinking as I've stopped worrying about it some time ago.
And I would suspect there are many many more who post here and are as entertained by your worldly wisdom and thoughts as I am.
I am not be the wealthiest here by any means.
