Cornsland not wshing to criticise and I appreciate just how annoying this share has been.
But, when you say, "I've lost bucket loads over the years, as like countless others, I have bought on drops, hoping stupidly the price might rise, much to my chagrin.".., it did.
Many many times.
More so a few years ago than currently, but it's still doing that (to a degree) even now.
Maybe you could've lowered your expectations and sold for a lower margin, seeing what was happening at the time.
There was enough of a margin to do that then, now it varies between 5-10% which makes it unworkable.

Lead shortly afterwards to the 11p spike.
Then everyone realised the reality and it's been headed down ever since (not directly but as a general trend).
Hilarious dilutions and other panicked management activity have done nothing to convince 'serious' investors this is worth anything more than the contempt given to it when it pops across their screens every the morning.
Mention UKOG on other boards and you will be deafened by the scoffing it receives.

I wish you (and all) luck with your investment(s), but I've heard plenty of weeping and reality-checks here over the last few years.
Saying it's a winner ain't gonna make it one.

They may be small deal corrections.
Like when you do your budget and are 1p out.
It's less hassle to balance your book by just swallowing a 1p loss in the calculation than spend an afternoon looking for it.
Some platforms have 0 trading charges too, may be those.
Could be a 'Corporate Action' as well.

No, I did consider gold a while ago but it seemed just too flaky for me.
Similar with Crypto.
Friend practically ordered me to get into it last Summer.
'Course, now I'm gutted I didn't, but it could just have easily gone the same way as UKOG.

Only other AIM shares can remember having traded (none as well as UKOG) are:-
PRSM
FEVR
AVCT

I've also traded BP although that isn't why I bought it.
Just opportunities arose and I chanced 'em.

I also traded a few small US stocks, don't know what they call their version of AIM even.
Most of my portfolio is invested in funds and "safe dividend" shares.
I've been leaning more to going back to that, because of the last couple of years.
I did buy a lot more BP last Spring though.

Bit too much to play that game with for me.

Yep.
That is part of Buffet's formula.
Another important part is his buying undervalued stocks.
UKOG, even after the last twelve months of dismal management/performance, is still overvalued.

All you can do here is try and buy/sell quickly in narrow peaks and troughs.
I've done that in the past but mostly given it up this year as too risky, especially atm.
