Share price drop3 Apr 2025 14:35
I sold my shares in CCL on 2 July last year at £12.66, and I've been kicking myself ever since, as the price hit £20.22 at the end of January. So I was amazed to see that the price today has dropped back to £12.52, which is actually slightly less than I'd sold them for. I find it really quite alarming that the share price in such a large company can be so horrendously volatile - it's more the sort of price movement one might expect from a penny share. It makes investment decisions incredibly difficult, and gives support to those who say stock market investment is pretty much like betting in a casino - worse, in some ways, as at least one expects to lose in a casino, whereas nobody who bought CCL in January would have expected to lose nearly 40% of their investment in just two months.
