Do you know much about NDAs steve? Do you know their functionality and mechanisms in their entirety?

So to clarify steve, you have no bones about investing in companies (I presume you are an IGG investor) that do not disclose if or not they were successful in upholding a claim made against them about them "rinsing" an ex retail client? Is that what you are alluding to steve?

If so, then I take it you do not realise the severity of consequences that could now unfold for the spreadbetting industry in general, let alone the potential car crash that could be around the next bend here at IGG....even if Peter Quinn was not successful in his claim against IGG (the blackout in the press suggests this not to be the case however) what if and I say this not in jest, what if there is a much bigger Peter Quinn out there waiting in the wings and this new Peter Quinn has evidence to back up the facts rather than assumptions and probabilities?

Like I said to matty, I do not think this is quite over yet and it would be nice of IGG if they were to tell shareholders the outcome of the courts ruling. If I get a spare moment I may even dredge the court archives myself.

One should learn to never assume the unassuming. Prey tell, what makes you assume I am "one of them" ?

Can it not be possible for me to be one of the lucky 21% such as your good self matt? or does one need to behold some superior knowledge to attain the rank?

As for bleating on as no one cares, you, me...us, we are the minority matt, we are the meagre 21%. How can you ascertain that the other 79% (the majority) dont think its bleating on and dont fob it off as not caring? what if a fair few of that 79% start to wake up and smell the coffee one day, what then matt? what if a good few of those 79% think, you know what, maybe it wasnt bad luck after all, maybe they too feel they were "rinsed" by IG Markets....what then matt?

As I said before matt, this could be the start of the PPI equivalent to the spread betting world.

perhaps mat the brave (as a duty to shareholders) might want to ring the company he not only holds shares in but also uses them to trade with "professionally" may I add, to acertain what exactly the position is regarding them being sued for 2m.

I would have thought that it were IGs duty to make it public knowledge that they were actually being sued.

Take San Leon for example, they have had some whimsical musings surrounding a "potential" claim that may be actionable through the courts and may arise and some so called shareholders have been out in force lauding for the claiments side and wishing for the demise of the company they apparently invest in? yes, rather bizzare and almost perverse to comprehend but it is the case nonetheless!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch on here, we have a guy that claims the spreadbetting firm IG Index deliberately went after him and "rinsed" him and nobody (not even their loyal shareholders) says a beep? all rather odd IMHO and moreso that the case seems to have gone quiet, almost as if IG conceded the fact of the matter and paid an out of court settlement.

If the above is the case and they have indeed settled the matter with the claimant out of court then why have they not relayed this to shareholders? this motion could pave the way for far reaching consequences for IG as if it has been admitted or at least seemed to be admitted by way of an out of court settlement then to my mind if they did it once they have done it many times prior.

I previously thought that I was going to invest here with IG but I would like some clarification of the current staus surrounding the hearing Mr Quinn V IG Index.

evening red, I posted my thoughts surrounding the cort case regarding an ex client suing IG on the IGG forum.

Like your goodself, I too find it rather ambiguous that the court case tied in with the volume getting turned down in this forum, their lack of "contrived" contribution is most suspicious I must admit. I mean, would they be so audacious red? is it really possible that San Leon really is being "worked" by the so called market pros?

Scary if so red, very scary and like I say on the iGG forum, spread betting could well be the next PPI scandel...

Its an interesting conspiracy thats for sure, would make sense to the initiated only though...

I remember a company from yesteryear named Rockhopper, I remember they issued an RNS stating downhole technical problems and the share price went from around 500 to 60 in a matter of minutes.

I believe I am starting to see the correlation between stocks and spread betting and futures trading that redeyemines gave a brilliant summary of a while back on the IGG forum.

Could the above be related to the current quagmire of a share price that San Leon has attracted, could this also be the reason that this share has attracted supposed nut jobs that publicly denounce the company on a daily basis, under the pretense of being shareholders?

Are these theories outlandish or is there more to the way this stock has behaved that meets the eye?

Intriguing to say the least, most odd that they seem to have lost their verbosity as of recent, its almost as if my arrival has made them vanish, still thats not a bad thing is it?

This case seems to be getting rather protracted, does it signify that IG could be on the losing end here? or does the silence relate to something more sinister, as in could it be possible that IG Index have made an out of court settlement to Mr Quinn in order for him to abort the case against them?

Either way, this latest claim by the punter V IG does not bode well for further such claims arising..

I came across this RNS earlier on Nostrum Oil & Gas and noticed their share price barely budged as a consequence. If this had happened on a well at OML 18 I believe San Leons share price would be down by 90% as a result.

Clearly there cannot be many "retail" punters in Nostrum or else no doubt too their share price would have collapsed. It just goes to show the movements of a share are related to how much money "punters" have in the game. Outrageous if you ask me and something that needs further investigation by the regulators.

Again, there were no disparaging comments, no obscenities, just facts about the poster whom it was written about yet for some reason the LSE Admin deemed it to be unworrthy and removed it.

Totally bewilldered to say the least and should this pattern continue, whereby Admin continue to ignore my requests to have offensive and false posts from other removed, yet remove mine instead then I will have to consider if or not I will remain a member.

Whilst a total ban on spread betting may be some way off, I would not rule out a blanket ban on short seliing in the near future, what then matt, who going to lay what off with who?

frus, I too feel that pain of dilution you describe. I will point out another thing in common I believe we share frus, nobody held a gun to our heads pre consolidation and told us not to sell at the heady heights of 40p did they? hindsight eh frus, dont you just loathe that word sometimes.....

All my intentions are is to make the best of a bad call of judgement that I as an adult made, also and as previously stated I only became involved in San Leon on the strength of a stocks and shares conmans so called tip, again though, I only blame myself for this, not OF, or anyone else for that matter, not even sid!

So there you are frus, we do actually have something in common after all. The difference is that I do not repudiate any of it.

There is no malign intended from my side frus, unlike some on here.

So matt, please answer this for me, as you not only use the instruments IG offer but also invest in their stock (IMO even doing just the former is already classed as investing in IG) where do you see the upside in IGs business model so as it can sustain its growth and profits?

Clearly for me, at least from what I have gathered thus far..sooner or later the 79% of "losers" has to take its toll on revenues, which in turn will affect its bottom line profits. Previously this would not have been a debateable topic as one could infer that when one door closes (a punter gets rinsed) another one opens (a new punter opens an account) yet because of the newly imposed regulations this will no longer be the case as the average punter will not physically be able to afford it.

For example, I rang IG yesterday with a view to potentially becoming a retail client, the amount of deposit I would need
simply to have a small punt on indices for example was a joke, then if I were to also want to bet on the movement of say an AIM stock in reasonable size the figures I would have needed to deposit were mind numbing to say the least. We then encroached on the other end of the spectrum about becoming a professional punter and you need to provide some sort of share proof portfolio of around half a million pounds for christs sake! Whom out of the 79% of losers will be able to come bounding back and meet these requirements? I also take it that companies profit most from losers than winners right?

Lastly, if the theory is to be believed that spread betting companies in general only make their money from the spreads and holdings charges (although this last bit is debateable as I am sure that the spread betting companies also need to pay someone else for the same service) if we are to run with that they only make money from the clients spread then the big question that should be on everyones lips is who ultimately are the rinsers if its not the very companies punters trade with?
