as Germany have let Tesla in to build a Giga factory and every other country in the EU are clammering to have the next one in theirs, and the EU so hot on EIA, and ESG credentials, there has to be a supply for these Giga factories ,EU must help those it feels meet these targets and those that meet them best.....if Tesla or VW or who ever for that matter want to show how green they are, get a supply contract INKED with the Green Cinovec mine! or BUY a very green Mine , just a thought amongst many... 49% of a mine should I say.
we might be inking some thing with CEZ off take we are pretty certain they will want to get their Lithium from the mine . is it the more green you are the more help you will get?.

as the industry as a whole is being affected by Covid and its knock on effects and the War in Ukraine also impacting on everyone . Laboratory staff will be deluged with work from every start up, PFS/DFS and scoping studies all becoming ecconomicly viable now lithium is at such a high price, everyone will need those people more and more thus there will be delays . Good point is tho that there shouldnt be a delay in the critical path of the project,
Permitting is going ahead during this time so I gather from that that what isnt constrained by the Ukraine war and Covid is going ahead as expected, this is an assumption on my part anyone care to chip in?

With CEZ being 70% owned by the Czech government I think with the new Government just getting its feet under the table and connecting with VW and those possible battery manufactures to decide where to build thier Giga factory and what incentives VW etc can get from the government to do so all take time No one will copmmit big money with out knowing where to build .VW and anyone else might just want to buy into a mine now Lithium price has climbed so much lots of conversations to be had ,plus the 2nd method of producing Lithium hydroxide being tested, time will tell, time again you see. Grants and loans to be negotiated and as pay back will be sooner ( once producing of course) as profit a lot higher banks and anyone lending money will be satisfied about that im sure but it still needs to be negotiated.
personally I think the EIA has caused a bit more work than first thought as have been seen on other projects and that delays on those projects too.
EU slow moving , VW slow moving , CEZ slow moving ??? wont they make more money the sooner in production?

The price of lithium is making people think hard and alter plans? VW might think best we secure a supply by buying into the mine? al be it with a 51% partner buy EMH out? NDAs ???

according to the article Greenpeace support the project, so if you can make Greenpeace happy ESG/EIA assesments etc should be favourable,

"Here in Cinovec there has not been a single protest against the plans for the lithium mine. Pavel Cmelík thinks it's because the local population won't be bothered much by it. First of all, the lithium will be mined further in the forest and not near villages. Another important point is the transportation of the material. “All the mined material will be transported to the processing plant via an underground discharge pipe. This means that large numbers of trucks with material will not pass through the villages', says Cmelík."

So the locals do know what is going on and are not bothered by it. That is good plus for Cinovec

CEZ and GEOMET thus jointly guarantee that lithium production in the Ore Mountains will under no circumstances affect the protective buffer area of ??the Erzgebirge / Ore Mountains Mining Region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, through mining or prospecting work. At the same time, all CEZ and Geomet activities will comply with all relevant legislative standards, in particular the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). At the same time, the forest stand that gives way to lithium production will be compensated by the planting of a new forest or the restoration of peat bogs.

"CEZ is the largest operator of public charging stations in the Czech Republic and we are prepared to expand our business to other segments of electromobility. We are preparing a lithium mining project at Cínovec, which could be used in a battery cell factory in the country. As a part of the contemplated consortium of investors, where we could act as the developer, which will provide, among other things, the necessary land and take care of the supply of power and energy services. A suitable site is, for example, the grounds of the decommissioned Prunérov 1 power plant,” says Chairman of the Management Board and CEO of Daniel Beneš."

Cinvec gets a menmtion, where else will they get their Lithium?

"The Ministry of Industry and Trade and CEZ have signed a Memorandum on the preparation of a project for a factory that makes battery cells for electric cars, known as Gigafactory. The documents set out the basic conditions for establishing the factory and form a foundation for an agreement with other potential investors in the company, in which a representative of the automotive industry and a battery manufacturer would also be involved, in addition to CEZ. An investment in the project, which has an annual production capacity of 40 GWh, will amount to at least CZK 52 bn, and 2,300 jobs should be created."

Just maybe they looked at how far we have go at Cinovec and not how long it took to get here now .after all Tesla are newbies in the mining sector lol
