I am afraid they may get pipped by ENN as the biggest riser. However, I am not buying any more of either - just holds on both. I am not advising to buy - that is a personal choice. Just making comments on likelihoods and observations. That's why I respect your approach too. I did so on Dyson and Portland Gas also this week. Also UEN which I did get wrong by a bit, but so did most.

Biggest weekly mover? 360% at present. This should make them the week's biggest mover on the market. That can only help.

Your 20 p estimate does look conservative, as does my advice yesterday to buy at 11.5 p. These are different as they are not a ramped share, so they will settle at a much higher level than before. What that level is I don't know, but could well be above 20 p, even after the initial enthusiasm.

Note - the sell price has now upped to 0.8 p. The spread has narrowed. These could have been bought (and were!) at 0.35 p a few days ago.

Yes. I am afraid to say I made a boob on this one. Spotted an initial move and bought in initially at around 4 p just before New Year. Thought it was simply an increase based on forthcoming Christmas trading announcements. Their rises were small and I got bored and bailed out. They started the big jumps the following day! I then moved back in. Cost to me? - I could have another 7 grand by now! Ouch!

Looks like slightly good news. Oilexco UK no doubt knew this and that the news would come out. However, it had to liquidate its UK arm, but it should be worth more because of this. However, the terms of the licence and licence holders' responsibilities I expect are unknown to most of us. Watch Oilexco on the Toronto exchange (type in TSX live) into a search engine. Use the symbol OIL to access the Oilexco. Or use this link: http://cxa.marketwatch.com/tsx/en/market/quote.aspx?symbol=oil&x=14&y=4. That will show you what is happening there and the UK shares will follow suit (or vice versa). As the UK market opens first the TSX price tends to follow - unless other news is released there first! It is unlikely that people will buy large tranches of shares - you put in 120 grand and lose 3! So any upward shift will be driven not by buying it seems. Rampers won't get their heads around this, as ramping only works if buys equal a price increase and sells a decrease. So we will not see a ramp on this for the time being, until the price has probably doubled again and the spread shrinks. Then the propaganda could start. Probably before the end of next week at this rate (look at Yahoo graph).

Well said buller, and there is no need for Paddy to be rude with your name. It is possible that Dyson will jump, if they confirm the 40 p. But when is anybody's guess and it won't jump to 40 p unless the deal is announced done and dusted (very rare). In the meantime there are non-ramped shares, such as Uniq, which Paddy has missed out on. Stick 10 grand on a T10 in this Paddy! It will make you two grand (at least) before the middle of next week!

Look at aim listed metal or oil shares, research them a bit (or ask me because that's what I do for a living), find a potential connection with China - geographical: deep harbour port, roads. Get a bunch of friends to buy at the low point - small amounts but one or two biggies (say several thousand quid). Wait a day or two then start a ramping cycle by using a number of names and 'personality types' - the serious researcher followed by a number of enthusiasts, then dump half or more the shares before finally you get overenthusiastic personalities to hype the share .... this is going through the roof. Is it being done? Probably. This is a problem with modern markets and electronic dealing.

What is peculiar about this situation is that the metal mining sector (amongst others) works, whenever the cash runs out, on cash calls such as by a rights issue or private equity placement. This is unconventional in quarrying. And of course people are scared and hanging on to their cash. The scenario is a reflection of the bigger picture. It is this fear, that the cash just might not be forthcoming, which pegs the price so low. It's a pity that Elton John isn't into Ennstone Rock! Songs please!!!!

The 'big' sales (million plus share blocks) have not occurred, as far as I am aware, over the last two trading days. Prior to that this feature was virtually every day. There was a half million yesterday but that's peanuts. Institutional dumping seems to have ended, at least for now.

Land bank assets not factored in to balance sheet. That's why quarrying companies can get in the S**T. They have to pay for them, they have to develop them, to borrow to put in plant. All a big downside. This all has to be paid for up front and therefore they get/got into trouble. However, once this has been carried out ...... Another key point: the devaluation of sterling makes imports of hard rock a lot more expensive. That means their hard rock quarries in N.E. Scotland will be more competitive.

In the UK we use over 10 tonnes of mineral products per person per year (BGS official figures) i.e. over 600 mT. The bulk of this is in the form of sand, cement and crushed rock aggregate. Smaller amounts are metals, salt and coal for example. We use roughly 100 - 150 mT p. a. on house builds in recent years, that leaves a lot to account for in other construction - mainly in the form of roads. That is why the Ennstone lorries keep on trundling - fact.

Agreed re Paddy. I have chased him up once today about exaggerated claims of his clairvoyance (re. DYS). It is so easy to claim your sharespotting skills after the event. This is only the second time I have ever criticized anyone on LSE - the first being someone who just swore a lot. I don't object to swearing, but not on chat sites. Those who use wild cards such as S**T, I'VE BEEN ******ED AGAIN can do so!

Correction Paddypower. The first posting of the Dyson rise was by me. Not a clairvoyant - simply remembered they had risen the previous day a bit. I can't find any recommendation from you until much later (and a rise). We are not here to blow our own trumpets or lose others money - which is why a more gentle approach to recommendation is preferable, I believe.

There was a small tranch of buying end Dec when the price was 1/2, but nothing of significance since then, even though the price has effectively trebled. I bought small amount today for just over 4 p, but purely on spec.!

These moves (100% + in a day) are going to happen time and time again, with decreasing frequency, over the next few weeks and months. A few will be for a good reason, but most will be due to hype, hope or short-term corrections. In the case of PYF I have no idea why, except they have a good product and could be a target. I don't know what their current cash position is. Those in early will make a bit, sheep will then follow and get their wool singed.
