RE: How are the shorts going to close out3 Dec 2024 14:36
SG - no it's much much darker than just a bunch of shorters doing their thing. Many more things are going on at the same time. There are Market Makers (MM's) who work (very covertly) with other groups, to drive a share down (or up) to agreed prices. This is done to fulfill their Order Books. The MM's don't care, as they make money either way and want lots of trades; but it enables big players to get in cheaper OR get out at a higher price. Then of course there are the large Day Traders here. With CBG being so volatile in a single day, it is massively vulnerable to day traders. These can and often are, PE firms, Hedge Funds and even Institutions. There are other games too: like Stop Hunting (creates more liquidity for the big boys as and when required) and Front-running (otherwise known as tailgating) and yes, it's all [well, very 'border-line'] legal! etc. etc. These are just a few of the reasons that we are seeing such huge volatility and manipulation here; but it goes on across the entire London Stock Exchange - no Index is immune. Large or Small!
