RC Fornax

Defence contracts can run into billions of pounds and take years to complete. Complex and costly, they are known for delays and disruption.

RC Fornax was founded by two RAF veterans, with one purpose – to ensure that projects are delivered on time and on budget, across land, air and sea. Paul Reeves and Dan Clark each spent 12 years in the Royal Air Force as ground electronic engineers, moving on to jobs with top contractors across the defence industry. In 2020, they put their experience to work.

Instead of throwing large numbers of people at a project, RC Fornax focuses on how to achieve the most efficient outcomes, bringing in the right teams to fit the job in hand. The strategy is delivering results. The business has been operating for less than five years and already counts some of the biggest names in defence among its clients.

Projects range from helping with early-stage designs for RAF fighter jets to installing top technology for tanks and developing safety systems on submarines. The work is demanding, timing is critical and RC Fornax has just a couple of dozen of employees. But the group has amassed a web of around 4,000 skilled associates, who can bring their expertise to bear when the need arises. The model seems to work.

Just last month, Reeves and Clark opened a new head office in Bristol, including an ultra-secure space for top-secret projects. There are plans for similar facilities in Manchester and Cranfield, Bedfordshire and the group would like to open a hub in Scotland too. RC Fornax is a small player in a £55 billion market, dominated by large multinationals. But it has established a reputation as a pedigree operator and should benefit as the Ministry of Defence (MoD) expands its roster. RC Fornax floated on Aim in February at 32.5p.

The shares have since risen to 38p and should increase materially from here. As well as financial success, Clark and Reeves are motivated by a desire for former colleagues to benefit from the best products and services. The combination of commercial nous and personal integrity gives RC Fornax shares extra appeal.

"The near-trebling of Ocado’s adjusted Ebitda to £153mn and a £249mn improvement in free cash flow throughout last year as highlights. And although Ocado’s Ebitda bears little relation to its reported losses due to high depreciation and amortisation charges, Daintith reckoned these peaked at £460mn last year. “You should start to see that flatten and ultimately decline as we’re putting less capital into our asset base,” he said.

The problem with this statement is that the company has a history of failing to meet its own targets and a 15 per cent share price slide was the result of losses being heavier and guidance weaker than analysts were forecasting, as some CFCs due to be delivered this year have slipped into next. Underlying free cash outflow is also bigger than expected, at £200mn. Although a case could be constructed for the shares being cheap compared with historic multiples of sales or book value, anything built on the company's pledge of cash flow positivity from 2026 currently looks too shaky to justify". Sell.

Smokinjoe03 - and nobody has a problem with that, as otherwise why would you have invested here!? However, Ocado is far from perfect and far from being a Slam Dunk for doubling your money. Most on this Board are very tolerant of those that are Long or Short - each to their own. PI's make no difference to companies of this size.

BUT we are fed up with one individual ramming the same thing (shorters are Doomed to failure) down our throats, five or six times every week - 52 weeks a year. He just keeps saying the same tired old thing, with just one intent - to 100% wind people up here. I have him filtered, as I just don't care enough, having bought at the bottom (£2.23p). Problem is, he cannot deal with anyone here who is actually making money, having himself paid way, way more (and he may never see that price again here I personally think). Good Luck to you with your investment; but keep your price target realistic, as Ocado has a fair few problems of its own; which currently, it is failing to resolve - and those problems aren't JUST Shorters. . . .🫡

I just got totally fed up of him constantly criticising anyone with anything other than rose tinted views on Ocado. So, I finally binned him.

I see none of his posts, as he has never offered anything here, other than "Shorters are Doomed (at least fifty times). He doesn't seem to have a clue; no idea at all. Indeed, it's a shame that every LSE Board has to have a Clueless Clown. . .

Only my opinion, but when you have a share that has fallen by over 86% in the last 5 years, you 100% put a stop Loss or Trailing Stop Loss, in place. Fail to do that and you will, like 'you know who' in the green box, lose a lot of money. It's a bit like buying a car with no brakes otherwise!! Crazy approach to a high risk share. . .

Sadly, I also am not a Subscriber, so was just 'hoping' that you might have been able to read it - clearly not! Really sorry, but would have done, if I could. I read it from a physical copy on the shelf; but now II are preventing non Subscribers from viewing their articles.

Well it was, as I expected, a quite day. Yet FTC will finish up on the day, by the looks of it.

I can't post it here, as I read it on a shelf in Waitrose! But there is a full page article on Filtronic (page 41) in Investors Chronicle today. It's a 'Buy' from them. . . 👍

I see yet another green filtered box! Oh no, it's him! It can only mean that someone is walking in the middle of the road or that shorts are doomed. Qantas you are a complete waste of time here. Get a portfolio, as your one company approach, screems 'PI Amateur'. There are much better opportunities out there right now where you may have a chance to re-coup your heavy Ocado losses. I'm in profit! 🤣🤣

And to think that this was 83p just over three weeks ago. Superb recovery and very justified, as FTC is a gem.

I expect a quiet Friday as the market looks pretty flat - plus it's a Friday!

I don't think it's a leak. I think that the wider Market has determined that FTC is worth anything up to £300m at this moment; hence no retrace.

That RNS on Tuesday was a very strong pointer to the Market. This will go higher - this month.

Well, given that we are down nearly 7% over just the last five days, then I'd say there is every chance of that happening!

Ocado's share price certainly needs some big news, as left to its own devices, it falls very consistently.

Minus 86% over the last five years is beyond 'poor performance'.

Well, now we know.

Looks like it will be an onwards and upwards from here.

New 52 Week High - by Close of Play! :)

Futures showing as the market to open about 75 points higher. We are back where we were, as I did expect - but just not so quickly, thanks to that great RNS on Tuesday.

So, the big question is 'can we now push past this point to move to a new 52 week high'?

Desertboy don't waste your time. This has FAR more to it than Shorters. It's much more complicated than that - but beyond some! Todays' decline was just too obvious. Not nice, but hey this is about being objective, making tough decisions and not burying your head in the sand.

'Those' that aren't capable of doing that (like ******), are now down a ton of money here; tough!
