India did 900000 tests in one day in an attempt to reduce the Covid explosion in its country. Massive market.

Triller, the 5-year-old, AI-driven entertainment platform, has been growing in popularity amid the talk of a TikTok ban.

“If TikTok does get banned, we will probably take their place,” Triller CEO Mike Lu recently said, noting the platform saw its "servers literally blow up" the weekend of Aug. 8-9 as people flocked to it after Trump issued the first executive order to ban TikTok and WeChat in 45 days on Aug. 6.

It’s getting banned or bought no question.

New Delhi: New Delhi: Los Angeles-based social video app Triller has seen around 40 million downloads from Google Play Store and Apple App Store in India within a month and half of its launch, after the ban on Chinese short-video platform TikTok.

Boom again

US-based TikTok rival Triller is currently ranked as the No.1 photo & video app on the App Store store in India. And it achieved the feat, claims the company’s CEO Mike Lu, “without spending a dime on marketing”.

Writing in a post on LinkedIn on Saturday (July 4), Lu said: “Triller surpassed YouTube and Instagram in the IOS App Store [in India] in a single week. This is a historic moment for our team as we’ve been working around the clock.”

This will be music to the ears of the major record companies, who all own minority stakes in Triller, which has raised over $30m to date.

Triller’s surge in popularity over the past week on the App Store comes just one week after one of its biggest rivals, TikTok, was blocked by the Indian Government alongside 58 other Chinese-owned apps
