The latest drivel is looking at the Somaliland dispute with Somalia.

There’s another Port access been negotiated now elsewhere, and regional leaders have rallied around Ethiopia on this point to both back them to avoid conflict and also because it’s not that big a deal to anyone except Somalia, which is comparatively versus Ethiopia armed with sticks and hurty words.

So no, war isn’t going to break out over every little ongoing diplomatic dispute.

If you were properly doing your homework you’d look to the North - where it’s no longer widespread, but local spats over land and tribal disputes and humanitarian discussions abound.

Or indeed at the potential conflict over water resources - which isn’t about to boil over any time soon, but is going to be a concern for some time in the future, in relation to countries downstream of the huge Dam built on the path of the Nile. Who need to be seen to be making a stand, and might be forced to politically escalate if they become deeply affected by it in the future.

One of the hold ups for security was ironically that the government couldn’t understand why such security was needed in such a (usually, and now again after a period of country-wide unrest) peaceful countryside region with arable farming, schools and churches.

The army is fully in control, but was not permanently stationed there for complete peace of mind, which it now is, as has been observed in line with lender policy.

Had it not been for this, TMC, you would have saved days of sore fingers typing angrily one letter at a time into your poor keyboard.

Small detail, but the RNS states “ entering into definitive commitments from the funding syndicate next month” (I.e. Oct).

The 2nd bank sign off for credit approval precedes this.

They’re a big slow org and required additional details before approval, which they now have, and are now doing.

I’m not so sure that’s the case here.

Speaking with Harry, he was exactly as he is in videos in real life.

He has publicly talked about wanting to pay (and earn) dividends and also stewardship, as well as being a junior partner in Saudi who wouldn’t be able to sell easily against the wishes of their in country partner.

A private conversation suggests to me that there won’t be a stock market flotation in the traditional sense, either as a dual listing or an equity raise in either country.

There might be some gold backed securities in Ethiopia, but then he has also talked about buying hedges to lock in sales based on the future price of gold.

As with all things, never say never.

But I don’t see a flotation of shares or a takeover on the horizon.

They drill, sample and estimate amount of gold / ton of ore. They then calculate the costs of digging it up, and work out the financial feasibility. Initially a resource estimate, indicative and then definitive feasibility study (DFS). DFS + finance = bankable project (derisked).

Here there is a huge deposit, relatively low cost to dig up, and finance “on the cusp”.

Given finance has been “on the cusp” for a while, there’s some scepticism about it - but the smart read is that fundraising has required an “optimistic” outlook by the company as they bring the project to fruition. Finance is due to land any. Time. Now.

The lassonde curve is a good visual guide to the lifecycle of a mine wrt share price.

Many investors follow a “pre production sweet spot” method which waits until finance is secured before buying in and riding the curve up to production.

Others, like us, try to get in early with maximum R/R.

Once the MC gets over £100m and into the hundreds, it’ll start to be included in indexes and institutional holdings targeting growth and dividend income.

As for precisely when finance will land? Thats the milllion $ Q.

Me - I’m cautiously optimistic of it happening within weeks, but happy if it happens any time - so long as it happens.
