It is not instant acceleration, the engines take time to start producing thrust again… the throttle back condition could have been too long.

A few seconds could have been lost whilst the co pilot was figuring out what just happened.

A few sources have now mentioned the captains seat failed, slid back with the captain’s hand on the throttle (causing loss of thrust and altitude).

Very interesting and sad if true.
