Gate Ventures PLC Wednesday said that Jun Zhu, an investor who has amassed an 8.74% stake in the company, is set to become its non-executive chairman, and is possibly planning to take a bigger shareholding in the newly listed stock.
Jun (Michael) Zhu, who acquired his 8.74% stake from Black and White Investments Ltd, is currently the executive chairman of GNet Group PLC, an e-commerce business based in China, according to Gate Ventures, which added that he also chairs retail and wholesale trade business Sun Shine Holdings Group Inc.
"The board's understanding from Mr Zhu is that it is his intention to build a significant investment in the company either through market purchases or a new subscription, if available. The board is also in preliminary discussions with Mr Zhu as to how his contacts within the media and entertainment industry and providers of finance in Asia could assist Gate Ventures to expedite its investing policy," Gate Ventures said.
Gate Ventures, which raised GBP3.2 million in an initial public offering of 3.2 million shares at 10 pence each on AIM earlier this month, has seen its shares soar since it floated in London. It wants to make investments in media and entertainment.
