This is one of the topics that causes so much frustration for most shareholders. As abzzba says Mike is usually at the mercy of other parties regarding the speed at which decisions are reached: on the other hand many shareholders are constantly pushing him for a progress/timeline update.....if he even hints at one he's then inevitably judged by it. Very much a 'damned if you do,  damned if you don't' situation to be fair.

Oh well - that excitement was short lived; looks like someone's dropped the ball and the co-ordinates actually relate to a drill in the Stabroek block not Canje - despite various publications and the Mariners Notice stating otherwise.

Interesting posts over on the ECO board that Exxon are drilling in the Canje block - as pointed out I think we all thought that Exxon had relinquished their interest in the block?? Don't know if anyone can get behind the paywalls and verify this. Not sure what this means for us given the JHI situation but must be positive if verified. Fingers crossed

Potential value of Sunsteppe continues to fly under the radar for many and could turn out to bring more share value, and at a quicker pace, than our oil blocks. Simultaneous news could also move things along significantly.

Guessing it’s just the share taking a breather after such a meteoric rise, with some profit taking along the way. Maybe waiting on the next catalyst(s) now which might include further clarifications regarding PL001 proposals, the outcome of the Ranger-3 drill and any related news regarding an extension to the Canje Block; also, seeing how Eco goes with its various irons in the fire. Not sure what’s happening with the other block. Just happy for everyone who’ve stuck with Westmount to see the re-rate recently.

....and if JHI do decide to float JPDM could one way to ensure the quickest route to the market be via a reverse take over of WTE...not sure of the ramifications though?

Thanks for sharing that ‘IP’, much appreciated. Have been intent on holding tight to my shares and waiting for news on PL001 which could drop anytime soon given all the recent activity with Navitas, ECO etc.

Assuming it's piggy backing on Eco's rejuvenation along with the JHI/Falklands/Navitas/ tie-in etc etc. Also, as you say, Ranger result imminent and related Canje block news. Whatever the reason, more than happy to see WTE riding from the ashes.

Totally agree Mullins58, no hyperbole from MB – straight bat and functional, which is fine by me. Pretty much as expected given the latest RNS. Anyone who has followed the company for a long period of time should know the way this works by now. The main drivers for long-term shareholder value remain the farm out and Sunsteppe and both are in-train; so just sit tight and await the announcements. Appreciate the pace is not as we would like but this is very much outside of MB’s control and I’d rather MB take time negotiating the best farm-out deal instead of accepting the first offer. Obvious target is to get everything in place by drilling season at latest so not expecting huge news to drop here for at least a couple of months but equally holding onto shares…just in case we get a surprise!

Yes indeed, very interesting times ahead for WTE particularly with the JHI/Eco tie-in. I appreciate it's still an outside bet, but I know the possibility of JHI considering a RTO with WTE has been floated here in the past, (apologies can't remember if it was Donmac, Harel or someone else); for those more experienced, would the possibility of a reverse take-over by JHI, (to give them a quick route to the market), look more or less likely now on the back of the sea lion FID and, if yes,  what would be the likely implications for WTE.

I agree TT and not really overly concerned whether H2 comes in with a significant increase in production or not; (although appreciate some will be quick to milk that as a huge negative if it doesn’t !). It’s clear, given Gazelle’s success and the steady production from H1, that the farm out and Sunsteppe are now the main drivers in advancing Matad’s progress. Whilst hopeful that a farm out will be confirmed sooner than later, I wouldn’t be surprised if this takes some time yet – particularly as MB has indicated that he’s keen, (quite rightly), to court interest from as many potential partners (and interest from others may have cranked up after Gazelle news). Very confident however that everything is heading in the right direction although, having been here since 2019, trying not to get carried away given the glacial pace at which things have progressed previously (not MB’s fault btw).

I know he’s come in for a lot of stick on this BB, (the majority of it undeserved), but I would like to tip my hat to Mike Buck – he’s the reason I stuck with this share. He’s had to change lanes and navigate through numerous icebergs over the last few years. Dealing with a global pandemic and walking a diplomatic tightrope that I suspect Kofi Annan would have found challenging. I know some will say we shouldn’t have been in this position in the first place but I suspect he has had to play a very patient, difficult, strategic and diplomatic game to get us to this point and set the company up to move forward on multiple fronts.

Congratulations to all those who kept the faith.

Have no knowledge in this area but could they not just be registering it as a subsidiary company...?

Great news, as Harel says, in relation to 3b/4b; for the less geologically informed, like myself, what does it mean potentially in respect of our acreage some 400 miles away in the Walvis Basin? How much more attractive does this now become?
