@Prion25: Yes, it's obviously the same paper that you discussed on Saturday. Sorry I missed that, but pleased to see that richlist reached a similar conclusion to mine, i.e. those with a worse outcome were showing higher IFNb mRNA, i.e. a higher INTENTION of generating IFNb rather than success in actually doing so. Assuming we're right, then of course that puts a much more positive slant on it.

OK, after some quick research my (very limited) understanding is that the virus suppresses the translation of the mRNA into the interferon protein, through some sort of blockage in the ribosome. In the Lancet article I believe they are measuring mRNA, NOT interferon itself.

So here's my (totally amateur) theory. The patients who are positive for IFNb mRNA (46 out of 57) are suffering because of the suppression mechanism.

The patients who are negative for IFNb mRNA (11 out of 57) must be fighting the virus through another path in the immune system, not reliant of IFNb. Therefore they are not susceptible to the suppression effect, and so have a better outcome.

Can anyone here who actually understands this stuff please tell me if this might make sense or is complete rubbish?!

Question: We know that Covid suppresses interferon production, but is this at the mRNA transcription stage, or later?

Hi skid35, you're right of course, perhaps I should have said "appease" rather than "address".

At least giving Acacia more say should reduce the likelihood of them selling into the buyback. Assuming they're not then this will be confirmed when Acacia's holding is nudged over 20%, prompting a TR1. But that won't happen till about half way through the buyback, which is a few months off at the present rate.

Is this to address Acacia's complaint that Arix "lacks gender diversity on the Board"?
