I guess we will have to wait on the details to get an idea of the lifespan of the project. If they are looking to acquire the Chambishi cobalt plant for the project then that has a capacity of about 6,000 tonnes per year of cobalt metal so that would be a minimum of 5 years. That’s just speculation though, hopefully we get some firm news on it soon. Not bad for a side project though, assuming we get it!

Dorfan, the copper and cobalt contained in the s l a g s is much higher grade than typical in our tailings, hence the numbers mentioned below. They expect to extract in the region of 115,000 tonnes of copper and 30,000 tonnes of cobalt, which at todays prices equates to about US$2 billion in value.

Jonah, if you work out the value of 115,000 tonnes of copper (= US$1 billion) and 30,000 tonnes of cobalt (=US$1 billion) then a capital investment of US$200m seems very reasonable! Chambishi Metals were reprocessing s l a g from Kitwe by using a furnace to liberate metallic copper and cobalt before further processing, maybe Jubilee intend to do the same.

Report this morning connecting us to the mufulira project with DMG providing capital. I also noticed on their website they state:

“ DMG is a shareholder in Jubilee Metals’ Zambian operations (Chrome, Lead, Zinc, Vanadium, Copper and Cobalt). Jubilee Metals is listed on the London Stock Exchange and a world leader in retreatment and metals recovery from tailings, slurry, waste and ****.”

I’ve started putting together a few bits and pieces about Jubilee’s operations which hopefully fills in a few gaps. It’s not intended to be comprehensive, I’ll just continue to add things I think might be useful. Feel free to suggest anything that might be worth adding.

Good to see platinum, palladium and rhodium all bouncing up today, maybe that report has stung a few people, he did say that most research houses have been underplaying the effects of ESCOM’s problems.

No, you got pushback for saying the COMPANY was stagnating… different thing entirely. Be honest. I asked you to back it up with facts and you ignored me…

Further to the report on likely PGM decline in S. Africa, this is an interview with the author. He talks more about load shedding effects. I must say he paints a pretty grim picture of the power situation and the effects on mining in particular. We might be seeing a return to higher PGM basket in the not too distant future… lets just hope we can keep the lights on to take advantage of it! Well worth a listen although he’s not the most charismatic speaker… I recommend listening at 1.5x speed!

First we have to find the multiple tier 1’s before we have to worry about what they might be worth! Personally I’d be more than happy with one big discovery. At least we now know there are at least 3 major targets that Anglo are going after, Cheyeza East, Muswema/ Lumbeta and Nyambwezu. If we still have Afrimin then there’s also Jatuma which looks very interesting too. Interesting times ahead.

Some of us can see a little further than the end of our keyboard :-) Talk it down all you like, the fact is that even at current prices Roan / Sable can produce earnings of circa US$75m per year at full capacity. That’s just the demonstration plant! You can multiply that up several times over the coming couple of years. Copper prices can only increase as supply drops. Leaching of copper sulphides….? That hasn’t even been factored in yet but could well be the game changer that Leon mentioned.

Maybe you’d rather just gamble on finding a little pot of gold at the end of your rainbow instead? :-)

Yes the decision to diversify into other metals, and in particular, copper looks like being a good one. Let’s not forget though, that it was the historically high PGM basket which provided us with the cash to kickstart the whole Zambian expansion so we should be grateful for that! PGM prices (mainly rhodium) may be softening at the moment but I’m sure their time will come again. This is an interesting analysis if you haven’t read it before:

The summary is that ore grades across all South African PGM reefs are declining. He forecasts platinum demand in particular likely to outstrip supply, leading to skyrocketing prices.

At least on this board Ella10’s grubby intentions were obvious almost from the beginning. On other boards he’s still treated as genuine! One can only hope that karma visits him soon, nobody is more deserving of a good dose of it than he is.

I think in the usual roundabout way (ie, definitely NOT insider information!) Ruffles is countering the deramper narrative that Anglo American are trying some underhand dealings to take over our licenses, when in reality the licenses are soon to come together under our own LML’s. Even the latest license application that popped up yesterday was actually applied for in November so what we see in the cadastre is well behind what’s actually happening.

I’ve been banging on about that target at Nyambwezu for quite a long time, in my view the mineralisation at Cheyeza might be directly related to the Nyambwezu anomaly. Glad to see Anglo are also of the view that it’s an area of interest!

There’s a good chance these extra licenses will be included in the JV, after all, it will be Arc’s exploration data they are using to make the decision to apply for them. I’m wondering if the latest airborne EM survey also covered those areas at AA request… maybe thats why they haven’t released any images of the survey maps

The timeline is going to be mainly driven by what’s happening with the Cadastre. Nothing can be finalised until the licenses are settled. Now if you believe Ruffles, who has been right on most occasions, the LML’s have already been confirmed on the Zaco and Handa licenses:

If that is true then in my opinion news could drop at any time. Why would anyone panic over a little drop in share price when that deal is just around the corner!
