Exactly, from what I've read Vedanta has absolutely fleeced Zambia with the KCM deal (in much the same way Glencore did with Mopani) so I doubt the new Government will want them back if they can avoid it.

I must say all this has got me wondering if Anglo American are planning to buy KCM from Vedanta. They are looking for new copper opportunities and they were the previous owner before Vedanta.

Here's a plot of share price for JLP (left axis) and SLP (right axis). The 2 axes are scaled to the maximum value in each case. The absolute values are obviously different but look at the trend. Bear in mind that SLP only produces PGM's whereas we are now producing copper cathode. Would you say the copper is priced in at the moment? I certainly wouldn't.

Glad I made the extra cash available, thats another 320,000 shares added to the pile!

The share price is tracking down with the PGM basket. Should we blame the company for that? If your horizon is short term then sell. Mine isn’t.

Then again I don’t think any of you are in the least bit genuine so I’m wasting my time I realise that.

The energy density looks very promising, this could be a major new usage for PGM's if the trials go well.

Included in that was the possibility that the brines which caused the mineralisation at Cheyeza East actually travelled down from higher ground near Nyambwezu. The Electromagnetic map has intrigued me since I first looked at it, in particular the solid area which extends from Nyambwezu to just North of Cheyeza. There is very little indication of anything major on the XRF surface soil sampling for that whole area, a few high spots here and there, but nothing consistent. My interpretation is that the fluids travelled within the rock down to Cheyeza before finding a pathway to the surface and spilling out to create the large anomaly we see at Cheyeza East. There is another large XRF anomaly up at Nyambwezu (the reason Anglo went after that license). You can see what I'm talking about here: https://tinyurl.com/msk3b9a5

So far we have only explored the very edge of this feature (circled in white), discovering a high grade copper anomaly over several hundred meters. The deeper drilling that we did is indicated by the yellow ellipse and was based on a surface Cu-Sc anomaly. You can see that the area drilled actually heads away from the area indicated in white.

My question has always been, is it possible that the high grade mineralisation seen at Cheyeza East actually extends over the whole area as far north as Nyambwezu? Obviously this is just speculation as we have no drilling data in that area yet.... that's why I'm extremely keen to see where Anglo American plan to drill! If we do start to get positive results from that area we might even be looking at something on the scale of Kamoa....

On another point, this is the reason why I have taken a small position in Tertiary Minerals, if that whole area does prove to be mineralised I've no doubt it would also extend into their new license (which Anglo American also applied for).

There is EVERY reason it’s taken this long, if you’ve been invested here then you should be well aware of what the reasons are. This is Africa, things don’t run on clockwork like they might in other parts of the world. There’s no point getting worked up about it.

If you want to know anything, the CEO is very amenable to answering questions if he can.

Colin obviously knew what was going on with the water and power issues at Roan / Sable so it’s possible he sold down before the news was announced.

As a wise man once said… the stock market is a mechanism for transferring money from the impatient to the patient.

Most people invested here because of the fundamentals… nothing has changed in that regard, if anything they have become even more compelling with the Anglo American JV. Of course you can always choose to believe the likes of Peggy who studiously ignore the fundamentals and only focus on the share price 😉

Forgot to answer the part about greater PGM extraction from Inyoni concentrate, here’s the notes I took from that:

ROM makeup: Chrome concentrate 60%, waste 10% (can go to brick making etc.), Slimes 30%. The slimes go to PGM flotation circuit. Of the 1.5 g/tonne of PGM’s JLP currently extract 35-38% could increase to 60-70% within 3-4 years.

I didn’t fully understand the reason for that but they mentioned something about surface weathering… I wonder if it’s some kind of oxidisation layer which reduces extraction (similar to copper) and which becomes less of a problem the deeper you go… just a guess.

I think you’re getting the RoM and chrome concentrate figures mixed up. The initial target is 360,000 tonnes of RoM (200,000 tonnes of chrome concentrate + 10,000 ounces PGM’s), with the option to expand to 720,000 tonnes of RoM (390,000 tonnes of chrome concentrate plus ~20,000 ounces PGM’s) per annum.

The overall target for Eastern and Western Limbs combined is approximately 2 million tonnes per annum so that implies another ~400,000 tonnes per annum of chrome concentrate from the planned chrome plant on the eastern limb.

The thing to remember with the PGM’s is that Inyoni is already at capacity so I don’t think they will be able to process more at the moment without adding in extra capacity. Personally I think the recently announced deal will replace material currently shipped from the eastern limb which will instead be processed at the planned chrome plant in the eastern limb. I guess it’s possible they might do a deal for a partner to process the extra PGM’s in the short term… hopefully all will be made clear in the next announcement.

I’m wary of trying to forecast any numbers for the chrome because the price is so volatile, also we don’t have enough info to know exactly how the margins are calculated.
