Australian company BHP Minerals discovered a coal mine at Phulbari in Dinajpur. UK-based company Asia Energy wanted to mine coal in an open-pit method here. In 2006, the government

withdrew from that plan in the face of the movement. The reserve of the field is 57 million tons. Extractable reserves are 47 million tons. It is possible to extract coal from this mine by the open pit method. This mining license is now in the hands of the multinational company GCM. A majority stake in GCM is said to be owned by a Chinese company. GCM has submitted a full feasibility study on the mine development to the government.

"Among the country's five coal mines, there are plans to extract coal by open pit method at Barapukuria and Phulbari, underground method at Khalaspir and Dighipara and coal gasification method at Jamalganj."

This article is actually written about gas, but even in this article it mentions own coal and states that …….

“To ensure that all coal-based power plants must operate at full capacity. Replacing imported coal with own coal, foreign currency can be saved.”

With just under 7 million traded and a close that looks like it was at 4.35 with an UT of 167357 shares, its been another great day......

Where are they??

Just thinking about the MASSIVE volume that we have had since coming out of suspension at the beginning of February. As I stated earlier today, it looks like we have now had well over 100 million shares traded, so with the fact that the SP has risen from 1p you would think that at least half if not more have been buys, surely not all 50 plus millions of these have gone into Pi’s hands?

To declare a holdings RNS you would only need to buy a maximum of 7.1 mill to take you over the 3% limit.... Even less if you already had a holding, as each extra 1% only needs a purchase of 2.4 mill shares so why are we not seeing these declared??

Am I wrong or are the investors that are buying, still buying and don’t have to declare until they have finished building their position or am I missing something??

Trading volume for today is now over 6 Million.... really is quite impressive for GCM and we are only half way through the day...... ;)

And don’t forget that this was only in the press yesterday, which may account for all the recent volume that we have had recently!!

I would expect more positive press over the coming days / weeks

Looking back at the volume, as others have said, and to just to put this in perspective, the volume recently has been MASSIVE for GCM, February coming out of suspension, we had over £1,78 Million value traded, which was nearly 80 Million shares traded and then so far in March we have had £729,000 value traded with almost 19 Million shares traded….

Has someone been building a position here believing that finally GCM is going to come good, lets hope so, and lets hope that we get some holdings RNS’s in time to show this is the case !!!

I think that this was about 12 or 13 years ago from memory that open pit was discussed for Bara, I may wrong, and i am sure others will put me right if i am, but I don't believe that there was ever a feasibility study done for Bara open pit mining, because just doing Bara was seen as not being economically viable, so it was always thought that if OPM was done, it would have to be both Bara and Phulbari, not just Bara....

Phulbari area being a lot larger area could be done on its own, but i am sure if they do one then it would be the sensible thing to OPM mine both....
