RE: Chatgpt’s thoughts on fab13 Jun 2026 11:07
You make some valid points Rocka but you overstate the bearish case on a few points.
1.”The NCI colab isn’t a commercial goldmine”
I broadly agree.
NCI is a research institution. Even if a commercial framework is agreed, I would be surprised if it immediately transformed Fusion’s P&L.
Where I disagree is that this means the NCI relationship isn’t important.
The CEO himself seems to view it this way. He repeatedly emphasised the importance of NCI publications and validation rather than quoting prospective revenue numbers.
That being said, there will still be a monetary value to the deal.
2. “Fusion has been doing it for goodwill”
Technically true, but context matters.
If NCI had concluded that OptiMAL wasn’t useful, the “goodwill”phase would simply have ended.
Instead, according to Adrian:
“NCI continues to use OptiMal across multiple projects and targets and Fusion have encouraged that use.”
That suggests there is genuine scientific value.
3. “Scientific value takes 5 - 10 years”
Fusion doesn’t need an NCI derived drug to reach the market before seeing commercial benefit.
I think you have confused the timeline for a drug with the timeline for validation.
4. Fusion has only £1.04m cash.
There are mitigating factors.
Much improved margins.
Focusing on profitability rather than revenue at any cost.
Finn IP proceeds.
Grant support.
Trading update suggested they were in line with expectations.
6. “Investing.com says strong sell”
I wouldn’t put too much weight on that.
Those ratings work on algorithms, they don’t take into account, OptiMal, pending NCI publications, NCI negotiations.
You have made some fair points, Where I think they’re too pessimistic is assuming that because NCI itself isn’t a huge revenue opportunity, it therefore lacks value.
To me NCIs importance has always been validation rather than monetisation.
The NCI validation is key to converting Pharma interest into commercial contracts.
