@JMAX Please show me just one example of where a dispute over branch profits tax has been upheld in favour of a host government suing an international oil company with a petroleum sharing contract where there is a stabilisation clause.
Perhaps you would also care to comment on why the other spurious branch profits tax cases were dropped against Tullow Oil in the past before arbitration,or why a similar claim has been dropped against Kosmos this time ?…as well as a South African Company, where, in my opinion , the Government of the Country objected to this crude attempt at a shakedown.
You may have also seen the opposition in Ghana suggesting they will have a “tax amnesty “ for many of these unfounded claims by the ruling party. The Government of Ghana is only just waking up to the folly of intimidating those that seek to invest in their country. The scandal over high transfer gas pricing in local fields has cast a cloud over the current administration . That being said change is now occurring and Tullow now appears to receiving a warmer welcome.
