RE: Great discussion in last week2 Aug 2017 13:09
Still can't see battery cars as any kind of practical solution should they comprise any serious % of the total. MASSIVE grid issues and more importantly a massive change in 'lifestyle' required from the driver. In this go go go society people simply won't hang about. 5 minutes queuing at a petrol station seems an eternity yet the filling process is quick. Where do we put 10's of 000's of re-charge points and how much will that cost? Where do we put the people queuing for them? Frequency of recharges will be much higher than gas fill ups until miracle battery turns up or you drive a Maclaren. What about larger vehicles? Maybe the odd milk-float with a battery, if they still existed, but anything bigger? Does that mean another (H2?) solution and does that mean an H2 infrastructure on our motorways whatever? Also re the weekend discussion , 'fewer cars needed' .... maybe, but taxi's exist today so it's really about recharging hours and reducing the total. Such a huge market and H2 an obvious contender for a major part of it.
