is he trying to get a bit of income for himself - if that option expires worthless, he keeps the stock and the premium. If it is above the price, Andrea has to sell the stock for 5.7p, keeps the premium, however, doesn't benefit from the rise in the price.
In my view, he expects the stock to be higher and then whoever he granted this option to, will exercise at 5.7p, flip and sell for a profit. Andrea will still probably make on it, as he bought the stock in the 2p or 3p range.
