I'm sure there's a political-governmental input each time an oil company becomes materially involved in Guyana. They all will require State approval either formal or indeed informal. I don't believe such a transaction involving the development of an important national asset can be simply left between two private companies.

ECO is faced with some important decisions. We know they will receive an offer at some stage for their 15% but the company buying ECO's stake will surely have to pass the acceptance test from both the Guyanese government and ECO's other partners on Orinduik. I don't believe the Guyana government will accept any old oil company muscling in at Orinduik. They'll want the right type of oil company buying ECO's 15%

In their submission, Monash University Professors Tim Horberry and Judith Charlton and research fellow Dr Kristie Young want the national road rules rewritten to enforce the two-second rule.

But they acknowledge that it would be difficult to enforce without, ironically, the help of in-car technology.

"The use of in-vehicle monitoring systems and workload managers could help to manage or advise drivers when they are breaching the 2.0-second criterion," the submission states.

"These can be either from the original equipment manufacturers or purchased as an aftermarket system."

Canberra-based technology company Seeing Machines is one of several companies that already produces a real-time driver fatigue and distraction system using in-cabin cameras to track eye and face movements. It has already proved a major safety asset as a retro-fitted device on trucking fleets.

Prestige car makers have been offering alert systems for driver drowsiness and fatigue for more than a decade but dealing with distraction is much more of a complex matter because their research tells them customers want more "smart" but potentially distracting features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

In Britain, the bipartisan Transport Committee, which recommends legislation to the parliament, has called for a complete overhaul on current laws covering mobile phone use in vehicles to make it as "socially unacceptable as drink-driving".

The chair of the committee, Lilian Greenwood, said there was "a misleading impression that hands-free use [of smartphones] is safe".

"The reality is that any use of a phone distracts from a driver's ability to pay full attention and the government should consider extending the ban to reflect this."

ACT Policing is targeting driver distraction throughout September. Between January 1 and July 31, police issued 448 infringement notices for driving while using a mobile phone.

Diluting to finance a listed company is always a pain and is part and parcel of AIM but ffs do it at a higher price, if possible. It's raising cash at a crushingly discounted price that is the fundamental concern. Get the price up ffs then raise if they really need to.

We have around £32m and zero debt and having a clean balance sheet is a huge bonus.

'our target is oil'. Is that offshore or at their Beetaloo licence, I wonder? When a CEO makes reference to oil in this context (because we associate the NT both offshore and onshore with gas) it does get my imagination. Why would he say that if he thought it wasn't possible?

I do like the fact that SEE appear to have solid relationships with the Aus government and indeed other State organisations not just in Aus. This affirmation is important for SEE.

A buyer of ECO's 15% will not want to buy after the upside from drilling's been exhausted. They'll be wanting to buy before value creation and that means buying some way before all drilling's been completed. That's my feeling. Either way, someone will want ECO 15% at some point so it's a waiting game

GM’s high-end brand unveiled Thursday the 2020 Cadillac CT4, a sporty and small sedan that is designed and priced to attract younger buyers looking to enter the luxury car market.

The vehicle’s debut also marks an important expansion for GM’s hands-free driver assistance system, Super Cruise. The hands-free driving system has been lauded for its capabilities; it’s also been criticized because of its severe limitations. Today, Super Cruise is available in just one Cadillac model, the full-size CT6 sedan. And even in the CT6, the system is restricted to certain highways.

Super Cruise uses a combination of lidar map data, high-precision GPS, cameras and radar sensors, as well as a driver attention system, which monitors the person behind the wheel to ensure they’re paying attention. Unlike Tesla’s Autopilot driver assistance system, users of Super Cruise do not need to have their hands on the wheel. However, their eyes must remain directed straight ahead.

GM is finally starting to expand where the system can be used and bringing it to more models. Earlier this year, the company said it will add another 70,000 miles of compatible divided highways in the United States and Canada to the existing system via a software update. By the end of the year, Super Cruise will be available on more than 200,000 miles of highways.

The automaker plans to bring Super Cruise to other GM brands, such as Chevrolet, GMC and Buick, after 2020.

The expansion follows other improvements rolled out in 2018, including adding a dynamic lane offset so that a CT6 with Super Cruise activated can adjust slightly over in its lane for driver comfort when passing large vehicles. Gauge cluster messages were also added, to inform drivers why Super Cruise may not be available in certain instances.

2020 Cadillac CT4 gets turbo-four power, Super Cruise tech

Following the reveal of the CT5 sedan, Cadillac is unveiling a little sibling called the CT4. The new sedan replaces the ATS in Cadillac’s lineup, offering more tech features, including Cadillac’s sophisticated Super Cruise driver-assist system.

The CT4 will be the latest model to get Cadillac’s Super Cruise system. Using an array of sensors, Super Cruise allows what Cadillac calls “hands-free” driving on over 200,000 miles of highway in the United States and Canada. Unlike competitor systems such as Tesla Autopilot and Volvo Pilot Assist, Cadillac also uses a driver-facing camera to ensure that the driver is ready to take back full control if need be. Cadillac said Super Cruise will be available on the CT4 in “calendar year 2020,” so it may not be ready when the first cars hit showrooms. Order books for the sedan open later this year.

At some point Cadillac will install Sup-Cruise to comply with EURO-NCAP requirements on DMS. I bet they update to SC even before then which means they'll have to map the entire continent of Europe!

I truly believe that this time it is different otherwise I wouldn't be holding over £30k's worth of SEE stock. Someone used the term 'inflection point' to describe where SEE now stands in its development. I think that's an accurate description. But, this is risk equity and there's always risk so dyor and only invest what you can afford to lose etc etc
