Yes, but Paul's in charge now not Ken. Paul's come in with a new broom. I don't believe he's gonna tarnish his reputation which is why I think news is around the corner to justify today's RNS...again, it's all speculation on my part and anyway it keeps my spirit up to believe such positive things

Why release this news NOW? We have the CMD early November. I'm sure we're gonna get some news to justify these awards...these types of share-freebies issuance stink of 'pocket lining' and corporate abuse and Paul will know this and the message today's RNS will send out so to counteract this accusation he'll hit back with fresh news on new contracts...that's my hope anyway!!

though volume is pitiful..there's no appetite stock though that's replicated across many stocks on my monitor..at least our weakness is measured and orderly ie no rush for the exit

CSTE stepped off the bid to join 3 other MMs at 4.60, therefore bid fell to 4.60 from 4.65...it's nothing more than a normal price adjustment....it's meaningless except its effect on the value of your holding, which for many is very meaningful

Maybe, the wider market sentiment is currently 'risk-off' with investors refusing to step up before the release of results from the current drill though there is definitely someone still offloading....I've given up trying to work it all out in terms of trading volumes and the possible identity of the seller(s) and focus on factual company news....

Level 3 may indicate 'iceberg' orders but even then we cannot see inside the minds of the MMs nor can see background or under the radar buyers and sellers until they reported late trades. The stock-market can at times be a smokes and mirrors environment

We need ACTIVE MARKET MAKERS not a flaccid book. A 3 v 1 book of active MMs would be great. At present an order book of inactive MMs doesn't reveal that much

Like you said to gain a real time appetite of appetite for stock one must trigger a quote using your retail broker

It's neither a buy nor a sell indicator. It's simply a reflection of the order book status at a point in time. It can change incredibly quickly. I use it because I find it interesting and it can serve a purpose in confirming sentiment. I suppose, yes, It can, maybe, support some form of price indicator in the very short term but I wouldn't rely it to predict price direction for a time period any longer than a few hours...

I find it interesting but company fundamentals are far more important

Simplicius - if you're interested in this type of mechanistic stuff then this site is a good starter but understand that at the end of the day it is company and general market fundamentals that drive share-prices. MMs merely respond to market or investor demand for stock and supply of stock

Level 2 is the LSE order book. It contains all buy and sell orders

Left is the bid or buy order side
Right is the offer or sell order side

3 v 1 means there are 3 bid (buy) orders on SEE book and 1 offer (sell) order on the SEE book

These are orders placed by Market Makers (MM). They are not executed trades and by and large most retail investors (you, me and Joe Bloggs) do not have access to the order book though you can gain access through DMA (Direct Market Access) but it costs around £2000 PCM

L2 access allows you to buy off the bid and sell on the offer while Joe Bloggs (me and you) with no L2 access buy on the offer and sell on the bid

L2 does not predict price direction but represents all current buy and sell orders at a point in time and believe that order book status can change like the wind as MM shift around during times of elevated trading activity induced by good or indeed bad news
