Newcrest Mining initiated with a Hold at Jefferies Jefferies analyst Kaan Peker initiated coverage of Newcrest Mining with a Hold rating and A$28 price target. Newcrest need an injection of high grade leverage to boost earnings. 'significant headwinds' doesn't sound too great for Newcrest. Havieron to the rescue. Heddle will know NCM is desperate for Havieron..

I'd be happy with a decent profit but I do believe Newcrest recognise the corporate importance of Havieron and that might command a premium. Havieron is a uniquely placed asset unlike other gold discoveries - The Telfer connection. Moreover, the Paterson is 'hot' at present and GGP's other licences may also command decent prices
