Provide petrophysical expertise to a multi-disciplinary team
The Role
This is a unique opportunity to join Origin’s Integrated Gas function as a Staff Petrophysist within the Beetaloo and Growth Assets (B&GA) division. You will be responsible for providing petrophysical expertise to acquisition, processing, interpretation, and management of subsurface data.
You will actively contribute to the B&GA subsurface team, working cooperatively with different disciplines to achieve team goals, and participate in peer reviews, peer assist and knowledge sharing initiatives.
Responsibilities will include:
Lead petrophysical evaluation for operated and non-operated acreage within the Beetaloo, Cooper-Eromanga, and Canning Basins as well as new venture opportunities
Undertake holistic and robust evaluation of drilling results across both conventional and unconventional play types
Evaluate offset operator drilling results and open file data to improve basin knowledge and accelerate learnings for Origin
Process, condition and interpret wireline logs for geological, geophysical and static modelling workflows
Contribute to the preparation of core analysis programs and recommendations for further data acquisitions
Implement wireline log standards, data gathering and assurance workflows
Preparation of scopes of work as well as the evaluation of tenders
Develop enhanced data visualisation platforms that enable efficient data interrogation
Automate and simplify tasks where applicable to improve business functionality
Mentor and build petrophysical capabilities within Origin

To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter with the ability to find and develop solutions to challenging reservoir problems. You will have a holistic approach to formulation evaluation with the ability to deliver on time, within scope and communicate results clearly within a multi-disciplinary environment.
You will have:
Experience with unconventional shale and tight gas reservoirs as well as conventional clastic formation evaluation workflows across a range of mineralogies and structural clay types
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Science, Mathematics);
10+ years of experience in the oil & gas industry gained across a broad range of asset classes at different stages in their lifecycle
Ability to articulate the confidence in interpretations made under uncertainty
Worked within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver; well design and placement strategies, completion planning, hierarchical objective optimisation, and drive down operating costs
Experienced with open hole wireline and LWD evaluation
