George Frangeskides, Chairman at ALBA, explains why the Pilbara Lithium option ‘was too good to miss’. Watch the video here.
Why is it a massive buy?
They did a placing. The investors brought in above NAV so as not to dilute the current investors. Management had already outlined possible investments to spend the funds on, so it is being put to use and earning a yield. Check out the last AGM video: google FEET PLC AGM Video. I suspect the recent rally also has something do with those fools at the BoE doing what they do best; printing more money. This has spilled over into the market like it always does. I have a few grand invested here. I think the sp may drop between now and Xmas as BoE stimulus wears off, and I shall buy some more, as this is a great fund.
I notice this share is trading at a premium. Can't say I'm surprised. It's ticked up alot recently. I hope there will a cheaper entry point as I'd like to top up!
MoneyWeek have tipped this fund again for a good way to get long term exposure to India. Currently trading 13% discount to NAV as well ;-)
Can't say I'm surprise. Would have made sense to orderly wind this pile of rubbish of bank down in 2008 rather than bring it back to life.
Not sure I'm too please to hear the new Chairman is an ex IMF paper pusher with no commercial banking experience. None the less, its good to see the sp trending nice upwards recently.
yes, its quite a lot lower! The RI was 475p. Not been a good day for STAN. I hope its over played. Have the Chinese Govt got there act together? No body knows for sure at the moment. Certainly there's a lot of fear at the moment, and that is really keeping the SP down.
I thin your points are spot on Pokerchips, but would a devaluation of the Yuan really cause havoc? My logic would be that it would give the domestic economy a boost? Suppose it would effect those with dollar denominated debt though! I have built up a bit of a holding here, with a long term view, so its interesting to hear what people think. GLA.
Since the return to shareholders is greater than the market cap, does it means Greenko will cease to exist? Have they totally sold out to GIC?
The is the second time I have invested in Indian 'Growth' story company, the first being Essar Energy. Both off the back of professional tipsters from investment magazines. I can honestly say both have been a disaster and as a regular visitor to India it should have been clear to me that the country is a mess and so are most of its businesses. I should have known better, but this is the last time I invest in an Indian business. GLA!
What results would these be? Q3 trading update? We won't get FY March 15 figures until sometime in June I would think.
Blimey! I wonder who is selling up and for why?
I agree with the sentiment on here. Energy shares will take a hit over the coming months as the oil price finally finds a floor. I'd be worried if I held investments in a leveraged up american shale gas company, but I'm far less worried holding Greenko. They are snapping up bargins and growing their energy capacity aggressively. Thnaks to the measures finally being put in place by Modi, the Indian Economy is growing well. As Industry grows, demand for energy will grow. Power in India is a Joke. The place is crying out for it. For what its worth, I actually think the fall in the SP yesterday was driven not be the ongoing fall in oil, but more so the Indian Government's decision to re do the auctions for coal mining licences. This may lead to greater coal powered energy which is a direct competitor to Greenko. None the less, the way India is growing they need all the energy they can get.
I don't think cheaper oil will make much of a difference. Energy shortage in India is MASSIVE. Petrol is subsidised in India anwyay, so cheaper oil doesn't effect what people pay.
I agree, anyone buying at 132p is sitting very nicely as this is a great growth share. Management are incentivised to get the sp to 250p which looks realistic. But, 200p by Christmas will NOT happen. Short term the sp may struggle again. I can see another sell off occuring as american QE comes to an end. Like many aim shares, and many shares with emerging market exposure, the road is a bumpy one, but worth staying on in my opinion. Gla.
I'd say you're right on the money. The factors pushing the market up will soon subside.
Looking very cheap. The market is spooked. The drop has nothing fundamental to do with the business in my opinion.
today. I might dip my toe in a little more.
Market is not liking the EIG investment at all. I imagine its due to the reasons I mentioned yesterday. It seems illogical to refinance bank debt with this form of bond/investment. Its an expensive way of doing it which suggests the banks are too comfortable with GKO. Not great news.
