Micro RX really does seem to be an incredible tool for new drug discovery, optimisation, evaluation and development.

Since 2014 they have found Blautix, 0518, 04 for asthma, the Parkinsons candidates, Thetanix and the second generation oncology candidates.

And they say Merck is struggling to identify future blockbusters.

E coli strains vary from benign ones that live in our gut all the time, to ones that make us very sick quickly, others that can cause colorectal cancer over time and still more with probiotic effects

Just been reading an interesting paper on the variations between different bacterial strains, which forms the basis of the science behind the Micro RX platform.

E coli for example has 1000s of different strains with a high degree of variation between their functional effects, for example the degree of antibiotic resistance they might have.

As well as bacterial pathogens having more or less severe effects, the paper highlights how "good" bacteria can have extremely wide ranging effects. So in the case of 4D they found a strain of e gallinarum that produces a very potent form of the protein flagellin, which is known to have anti tumour effects and would also provide you with protection against radiation sickness if you had to visit say Chernobyl.

Reading the paper alongside some of the 4D published research highlights how the company really is doing cutting edge science and is streets ahead of the microbiome companies like Seres that are struggling to demonstrate the efficacy of their consortia approach that bundles together strains of different bacteria.

As part of the discovery process they do some incredible work around genetic engineering of strains, which seems more to do with making comparisons between a strain like 0518 and other strains of the same species. So they identified the mechanism of 0518 by engineering a strain of e gallinarum with no flagellin and also engineered a super strain loaded with flagellin, which then underperformed 0518.

They have done some very valuable work in genetic engineering of strains and they highlight how they have developed the ability to design specific genetic manipulation tools for each strain so as to overcome barriers to engineering.

The summary/abstract of this paper discusses how drugs can be approved by the FDA for specific patient sub groups. And then later approved for other groups. The phrase pivotal oncology trial are used.

I really think they are going for early approval in the sub group of patients with the right tumour biomarkers

This is useful in relation to the mention of tumour biomarker analysis at ESMO and how it can determine what therapies are best for particular patient sub groups

Me too Lukin. I thought they would want to take it all forward themselves but in an interview a year or so ago DP sounded like Merck would want to take us out once there is more conclusive data on 0518 and they would be happy to exit at that point.

To have 1 immunotherapy drug trial running with MSD is quite something.

To be on the verge of starting another with Merck Kgaa/ Pfizer is all the more incredible

Odd that you get these characters coming on here with their little spats. It's as if they are disruptive on purpose in order to block the flow of more meaningful discussion, They never put forward any useful commentary and are always strangely silent when people do share interesting stuff like the Merck story.

They create phantom shares by "borrowing" them without actually borrowing them.

So it artificially inflates the trade volumes and expands the float of shares.

That's why people realised that there were more uncovered shorts in Gamestop than there were stock available in the market so if you bought up all the available stock there would be none available to cover the short position.
