The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
When the FD announced that he was leaving a couple of weeks ago, I shrugged my shoulders and wondered what else could go wrong. I was down by over 75% and had written GDR off. Fortunately I didn't sell.
In my work experience, whenever a company is sold, one of the first "synergies" is the FD leaves - especially if acquired by US companies. Is this what is happening here? Could BC / Danaher be about to make a bid?
It does sound good.
I wouldn't like to be out of this share between now and the end of March. Its going to be an interesting few months.
Fair enough Bill.
.
I also dont see anything here about a rejected offer.
The profit in the recent accounts arose from this investment revaluation - not from any sales or trading activity.
I am surprised at how people don't seem to have read the last RNS.
Monday's RNS disclosed the arrangement with Sygentia. Why the rise today?
He says that he has 9000% profit but does he publish anywhere how he has calculated that figure? After his hIts on POL and BIOM this figure must be lower thzn 9000%.
Anyone who advocates a portfolio of just 5 small market cap stocks needs their head examining. "High risk, high reward" or just plain stupid?? You make your mind up.
I am no longer in Gfin. I was thinking of reinvesting but not after these results. I sincerely hope for all of you that I am wrong but I do see an awful lot of confirmation bias on here. Good luck all and be careful.
Afterpay may state that they want to pay off the Clearpay shares in stock but I understood that once a change in ownership happens, payment has to be in cash.
From this morning 's RNS it looks like the Square acquisition will take place on 18 January.
This continued drop in share price is puzzling. The SPs of both APT and Sq remain healthy. Is there any reason for our drop? Is this another buying opportunity?
I have been in this share for some time now with the aim of receiving a Paraytec sale inspired dividend.
PhaseFocus has now appeared on the scene and the prospect of a PF sale generated dividend is now a reality. How much though would a PhaseFocus dividend be??
The RNS talked about a PhaseFocus sales value considerably in excess of the current book value. That is c.£400k. How much of a premium would be realistic? 3 times book value? 5 times book value? 8 times?
Lets say TB and co achieve a price 10 times current value - say £4million. If that is returned in the form of a dividend that would mean a dividend of 8p a share.
Don't get me wrong - an 8p dividend would be very nice. It is not however in the same ballpark as the dividends being discussed for Paraytec. It is barely more than the value that the shares have lost since the RNS.
I am not a deramper and would love to be proved wrong. Is there a bigger dividend to be earned from PhaseFocus? Hopefully someone will tell ne that this is the case.
If we say 10 times
I know what you mean Furion.
There is an indication of the size of the market for infant deafness in this RNS. £35M. Presumably this is just the Uk and doesn't include the EU.
No idea of the time span for this.
Any idea what our margins would be on this amount of sales? Any idea of what profit we could expect to see?
I agree entirely.... but why today's 10% fall?
Time to top up???
We certainly live in interesting times! A premium on the placing and all the shares snapped up - including 2 million from the Chairman.
I guess that with this warchest we intend to top up the holding in TP to 29.9% and then go into full battle. Definitely interesting times.
If only you had told us this before!!
YAWN YAWN
Perhaps somebody can tell Piggy Jace that there is a whole stock market out there. If he doesn't like a share and ite management he can always sell and invest in something else.
He is clearly as thick as pig**** .... or is just being paid to appear stupid.
Blimey mate. You could be right.
If I were you, I would sell my holding in GDR and buy something else. Plenty of bargains out there. Eg Today ULE has had a bid approach and its SP has increased by a third.
Why not try and find another ULE rather than hang around this deadbeat company with its buffoon of a CEO? ... Or are you just paid to deramp on here????
I focus on you Jace because your approach is so illogiczl that I think you are a paid deramper.
Go on. Tell us. Why are still invested in this company if it is such a dead loss.

Jac was doing the late shift last night. He was posting after midnight so his bosses have given him a few hours off this morning.
