Old or New inhibitors.10 May 2024 07:35
Deucravacitinib is the first Tyk2 inhibitor to be authorised for use in patients.
A new drug is defined is a drug that has not reached authorised approval for use in the clinic and indeed is still considered new up to 6 months post commercialisation.
That is as near as l can define.
The 4 kinase inhibitors known about for many years. This is not of any relevance whatsoever.
What is important is the selectivity and complexity of the compounds to enable a satisfactory safety profile, along with sufficient efficacy that prove to give greater benefit than the current available 1st in line treatments.
Deucravacitinib is a first in class, that is entirely different to best in class, so much so that there are now many Tyk2 selective inhibitors along with the addition Jak1 and Jak2 in various stages of development.
SdC1801 we await safety data results and interpretation thereof.
