I've been a shareholder for 5 years since the heady share price in 2020. I have learned and accepted that all these news articles and claims of potential market size just don't matter. At the end of the day this will all come down to some basic fundamentals. If they can produce the food for cheaper at an acceptable quality then this has a chance of taking off. Talk of potential market share all hinges on this. So far all portfolio companies have over promised and under delivered. Sort that out and this fund might stand half a chance. When you say vanishingly few people are ok with the current system it kind of misses the point. That statement may be true but for the overwhelming majority of consumers the reality is that animal welfare is relatively low priority. For the masses, this will come down to cost and quality. If it can compete on those levels then all else being equal the ethical factor should then be decisive. Until we reach that point this will be a niche market.

Not sure if everyone on here realises how competitive the food sector is. This sounds like high tech and it is but the final product is very price sensitive and producers mostly operate on wafer thin margins and massive volumes

Finally some good news from solar foods signing memorandum of understanding for 6000 tonnes per year of solein. Their share price now only down 65% from launch! Whoop whoop.

i'm pretty certain the share price move is entirely based on momentum off the back of simon thompson recommendation in investors chronicle. this share has large retail following and his recommendations often have this effect. at this rate i'm in danger of only being 50% down.

Not sure that there's much basis for saying liberation labs will change much. If you look at solar foods they have a production facility up and running. They presumably have a market to sell their product. However their share price since listing on the open market last week is down 16%.

Another question for AC. What does he honestly believe the "real" NAV of the portfolio to be? Practically overnight we have had some significant investments revalued to zero. What other skeletons lurk?

The wise management of this company agreed to the Shelby fee structure which was solely based on NAV and unrelated to share price. Worryingly I also recall from 2 or 3 years ago that Jim Mellon thought VitroLabs was one of the more promising companies in the portfolio! Ah well. This time next year Rodders..........

When you say that this industry won't be allowed to fail I don't think that stacks up with current facts. Certain US states such as Florida and EU countries such as Italy are actively seeking the failure of this industry by banning cultures meat etc. Be in no doubt that this will be an uphill battle with immense opposition. The notion that somehow everyone will see the light and "do the right thing" ignores the past century or so of Western capitalism. For the record I am invested in this and very much hope it succeeds but blind optimism may not help others make an informed choice as to whether they should invest.

Re. The post suggesting Those Vegan Cowboys was sold to Unilever, that's getting a little carried away. The vegetarian butcher was sold to Unilever in 2020 and the 2 guys behind that brand subsequently started Those Vegan Cowboys. This company has nothing to do with Unilever.

If you don't already follow Formo on LinkedIn they've just posted that they are about to announce they have hooked up with some new partner. Good news but still don't expect share price to budge.

I'd be almost certain the sp rise is just momentum due to private investors fear of missing out. Exact same thing happened with AppHarvest who are also in the food technology game this time last year.

Nav is something like 16p. Don't have exact figure. 39p was close to all time high and at that point was about 4x NAV.

I will hold these for the long term. It's only small percentage of my portfolio though.
