What is going on with the SP! We've had fantastic news on shareholder returns for the past year from Blanc.and we know there's more to come before this announcement. Why is the reaction to these results different...
I believe its as simple as
Before dividend value of natwest £1000, 400 shares
After special dividend consolidation. Get a £67 dividend (400 shares ×16.8p), no of shares reduced to approx 373 shares to leave value at £933. So you aren't any better off except you have cash and less shares. Someone correct me if I'm wrong
Which is what I don't like. Same happened with aviva...
I looks like its similar to Aviva`s special distribution by reducing shares. But Natwest havent confirmed if the distribution is by dividend or B shares. Either way you`ll get the money but end up with less shares in natwest. I`d rather they just do simple special dividend and the price goes down 16.8p ex div

One thing to note amongst the fearmongering is that the oil price rise as a result of Russia going into Ukraine already offsets the loss from the rosneft dividend. I saw one analyst calculate $5 higher on crude price offsets the loss of rosneft dividend.
The share price has already fallen back also. So I would expect a hit tomorrow but not the end of days prices some on here are suggesting.
@ EmeraldCarrots the problem is that view is focusing on just whats happening now. what happens if Pfizer release prelimary data tomorrow that their new omicron vaccine is 95% effective? or if omicron isnt as bad as feared & the wave dies out in January? if you are sitting on the sidelines you could miss out
They are already cheap and discounting a tough few months but think of 1 to 2 years away when covid is contained
"Liberium says despite concerns about softening demand in the run-up to Christmas, co's reiteration of all guidance, including FY adj PBT, should be well received in current environment"
doesnt look like its well received this morning! but I have topped up. They are doing well considering the hit to confidence from omicron
