I read on other sites that some are questioning whether the drought in CI is as bad as we have been told. Would seen the high temperatures and lack of rain is also affecting cocoa beans throughout the country. It is reported that some 50pct of the buyers are rejecting the current crop as too small and too acidic as a result of the lack of moisture.

Faz. When Lincoln first mentioned the cashew project I did a little research. Most of the CI cashews go to Vietnam which is a major processor. in 2020 Vietnam produced domestically some 100,000 mt shelled cashews and exported over 400,000 mt primarily to China, the USA and Netherlands. Big processors are Long Son and Thao Nguyen.

India produces about 160,000 mt and consumes over 200,000 mt about 30pct of world total ? The USA eats 150-160,000 mt

I believe Olam is by far the biggest trader/supplier in the world.Certainly in the CI it produces some 40,000 tpa. Others active in CI are Cilagri, Sita, FMA and CASA.

Much of what we eat in Europe is processed and packed in Holland.

VOG. What some are missing is that this year alone we have an imbalance between CPO production and sales of close to 2000mt. I reckon we started the year with almost 1000 mt CPO in stock so DKL is sitting on over E 3 m in potential sales. To my mind this makes the numbers look a whole lot better.

LeM, I want to see that that they have increased the collection of ffb in April and that they have achieved an extraction rate of 23pct. Also to know whether the Chinese colour sorter has now arrived and whether any of the Italian shelling machines are on the water. These issues need to be resolved ahead of any new ventures in my opinion.

Am in a similar position having bought in at over £ 13 and seen the price drop ever since. Braben sounded pretty positive about the next releases when reporting in Jan but then he could hardly have sent out a negative message. Think I will watch and wait a further couple of weeks before biting the bullet if the price does not start to move upwards.
