I watched the Melanoma one twice and the CAR-T just once - both very moving.

The CAR-T was very upsetting as the two people featured both died, they seemed really nice people and we had an intimate glimpse into their lives. I wondered why they only featured two of the unsuccessful trialists.

Did you get a chance to look at the link I posted on the trial? If I have the right one, there were 10 on the trial, one died of sepsis within a month, 1 died of sepsis later, 2 died when the leukemia took hold (the two featured) and 6 remain alive, one for over 22 months.

personally I’d welcome any thoughts and enlightenment anyone cares to offer.

I watched “war in the blood” last night. It was extremely moving, it was a good portrayal of the human side of cancer, treatments and trials.

I’d be interested to hear what Moditope would contribute to CAR-T or indeed, what CAR-T contributes to Moditope. Dr Martin Pule talked about reprogramming t-cells. Does Moditope help with the programming or help with what they are programmed to do? Will the two elements (CAR-T and Moditope) be administered at the same time or will one need a “head start”?

Sorry I have more questions than answers, over to you.....

Morning C7, great post and very heartfelt as always.

I nearly jumped in last night on your “disagree with most things” comment but decided it was not my place to. So I was really glad to read your clarification today. I believe we all have much more we agree on. The points of disagreement are trivial in comparison to the big picture. To me, the big picture is making a significant breakthrough in the treatment of multiple cancer types, in multiple patient types.

As for ramping/deramping. A lot of us make judgements on what is and isn’t. Often, our judgement is flawed as it is an assessment of how we take it rather than considering how the poster intended it. Also, our attitude may me skewed depending on the poster rather than the post.

For many here, this has become as much a worthy cause as an investment. It is only natural to support causes that address issues that have touched us personally. The passion for such causes may well be (mistakenly) taken as ramping. (See above). I try to be careful not to over-egg the cause and sometimes this comes over too negative.

Well whether the graph looks like "falling off a cliff" or not is a matter of opinion. I haven't yet devised the formula to categorically classify "falling off a cliff" as opposed to slipping down some rocks!

Personally, I think it looks like falling off a cliff but in fairness to Wild (one of the more reasoned and balanced posters here) you have to consider the height of the cliff and if you can get up and climb back afterwards. There are certainly biotechs with worse falls (don't I know it!) but others not as bad as Scancell as well.

If you look at the Apple share chart over the last 12 years and home in on 3/4 year snapshots, you can get an image of "falling off a cliff" (-50%,-33%,-30%,-30%) The last one was as recent as 2018. If you look at the share performance over 12 years, it is +1000%. So if you are a long term investor, you will have done quite well.

I am hoping for a similar thing here. This is a long term investment albeit a little longer than I had originally thought.

I guess you could argue that the collaboration in itself a “deal” of sorts.
There is obviously some mutual benefit to both parties otherwise they wouldn’t be doing it would they? Whether this translates to a deal in the form of a big wad of cash being handed over to Scancell remains to be seen. The ultimate value BioNtech provide Scancell May be of a non-financial kind. As we all seem to agree, it is purely speculation at the moment.

Yes we have discussed this a few times before. To state the obvious (again), early diagnosis will result in a better outcome in many cancers. The problem I find is that GPs start with the most trivial possibility and work their way up. This can takes months, if not years as medication needs to be taken a while before deciding it’s not doing any good. Perhaps it would be better to assume the worst and work down? I know this sounds more costly but when you take into account the cost of treating a stage 4 cancer patient along with palliative care against a simple operation I think a case could be made on long term cost benefits as well.

C7, we ALL hope the trials will start soon, even if they are late. (I never mentioned that BTW)
They may NOT be late, there could be an RNS on Monday saying they started today. In any case, there should be an RNS on Monday even if they haven't started, apologising and giving an updated start date. We shall have to wait and see, but we have to accept there is a POSSIBILTY.

It is true that there is "lots of potential news". Why is there lots of POTENTIAL news? Because we have NOT had a lot of real news. Hopefully, the "potential" news will turn into "real" news very soon.
