So if I understand correctly it doesn't mean that if there is no flare before TD is reached, that there are no significant hydrocarbons present.
I believe there is a mud/gas separator and flare currently on site, which I assume will only be required if there is a kick? Do these happen very often during a drill?

Thanks GP, that is pretty much my understanding, but I have also read that the flare may be used other than in case of a kick, and since it appears Manwell has some experience of being on the front line I wondered if he could confirm it one way or the other.

Jack, I think you're absolutely right.
I also think the Langs are holding, not selling. I would guess they got the amount of cash they needed in the short term from the deal, and will hang on for the results.

Whether it's a buy or a sell it's at 'mates rates', so imo an institutional investor trade, probably a sell. The sooner they sod off the better, as BarkingCrazy politely inferred.

I'm saddened to see posters on the UJO BB blaming the broker for the leak over their placing, which also dropped the RBD share price. It seems that just because it is claimed on twitter it was the company broker, it becomes fact. The first leak from my understanding was from a broker's client (probably not the company broker), and I believe the second leak was before brokers would have even been contacted as massive selling had already started, if my sums are right.
As RBD & UJO are currently joined at the hip, I hope David Bramhill soon comes out with an interview to calm UJO shareholders, preferably with answers to some awkward questions. In my opinion this could give a much needed boost to the share prices of both companies before any sort of news.

GP, surely Wressle is on a par with California, and Biscathorpe is completely unproven, being retrieved in effect from the waste bin. Even if Biscathorpe is as good as optimistically hoped it is still chicken feed compared to West Newton, as Desmond states.

GP - a little more information from Sachin on the Cadeby formation from the WNA-2 well (to add to 'oil soaked core' at WNA-1) -

Well, we'll know soon enough if this is going to be an oil field, a very big oil field or an enormous oil field.

Hopefully my guess for first news on 15th November will be a bit better BH! I'll be looking for the gas flare announced on twitter in due course. Should be an exciting few weeks ahead.

Typical of the facts you normally come up with - I posted that on 18th August. I may be 2 weeks out with my estimates, and it was before UJO's placing which also dragged our price down, but I don't believe I'm far out with the prices. But it was an opinion, not a statement of fact. I believe we are entitled to have and express opinions.
By the way Wilson83, if you hadn't noticed persimmon is our resident troll - a nimby/tree hugger who apparently has a personal grudge against RBD. As soon as anyone posts anything positive she has to come in to add a bit of poison to the conversation.

My guess for Christmas is 1.8p Wilson.

GP, I don't think the fact that Rathlin are currently ONLY involved in the West Newton licence has any bearing on them doing an IPO/reversing to be honest. Rathlin are comprised of a very experienced and energetic team. From my limited contact with John Hodgins (who I have found to be one of the best people I've ever met), I can't see that they would sell West Newton then call it a day on the company. I believe there are plenty of opportunities for them, particularly in today's environment with the cash they may well have available to them and the licences that may become available.
