Was looking quite solid today until the latest twist - Bloomberg reporting that Geely has lost interest, but Stroll now the front runner for a deal to be done this month. SP dropped c.30p straight away, wiping out gains in last 48hrs. Not sure the £200M that Stroll is suggesting is enough for AML though, don't think this situation is anywhere near finished......
Well, I hope that works for you better than it did for Mr Corbyn.....
Going to be interesting to see how this all pans out, but interested to hear peoples thoughts.
Good, solid performance today, potentially helped by a couple of very positive DBX 'first drive' articles from Autocar.
Morning All
Strong start to the day for AML's SP, for no discernible reason - a change from the usual early morning drop followed by a day long recovery. Lots of small trades being made. Rumours that there's an announcement to be made this week, but not confirmed. Hold, but keep a close eye on it.....
Guys
SP rallied again after morning drop, similar to yesterday as predicted. A penny for your thoughts though.....
If Stroll and/or Geely wade in with £400M for a substantial stake in the company, how do you think they'll form the deal? Will they look to buy out an current stakeholder (who probably made a fortune during the over-priced floatation), or will it mean issuing new shares and so considerably diluting the existing share value? They'd bounce back if the business was on a stronger footing, but possibly after initial losses. How do you see a deal being constructed and what effect on SP, both short and mid term?
Over 1800 orders taken, 1250 of those being retail. Their target was 1400 by mid Feb, so it's off to a promising start. Good for transaction price and residuals, so they could have a very profitable car on their hands.....
Agree with you istock, although I still believe that a 'rescue' deal will be announced this month. The market that AML play in is very fickle and both wholesale and retail sales will have ground to a halt (relatively) during this uncertainty, adding further financial pressures - not good for either the company or the potential investor. Apparently, provisional offers have already been tabled by more than one party. Holding, but watching closely for now....
Was lucky enough to view a DBX up close when visiting Gaydon recently and it really is an imposing car with amazing road presence. I wasn't sold on it until I saw it in the flesh - early photos just didn't do it justice, but it really is a very handsome thing indeed. Easily the best looking luxury SUV available and they've managed to make it very 'Aston Martin' in design and stance. If it drives half as good as it looks, it'll bee a huge hit. Just hope AML gets itself on a strong footing in order to deliver it.....
Interesting istock. Think AML would be keen to see a deal done asap, they need the cash to get DBX into production and try to avoid calling off the $100M @15%. All this uncertainty won't be helping their ability to retail cars either, there are plenty alternatives on offer from 'stable' brands. For that reason, I can see a deal being tabled in the next week or so and, if so, the short term effect could see existing shares being diluted heavily. With stronger financials, they should recover well, but from what base point?
aej22 - looks like you've done more homework than I have!! I think there's good gain potential medium term, just worried that any deal done with Stroll or Geely are going to heavily dilute the SP short term. The company's got major short to mid term issues to overcome though, but the right investor could make a huge (and quick) difference - my preference would be Geely, they'd bring more to the table than Stroll.
Hi Guys
What are your thoughts on potential deals with Stroll/Geely and how do you see the SP reacting? Sitting with 5000@£4.42, but a difficult one to call - could be a potential big loss, or big gain just as easily.... thoughts?
Hi Guys
Sitting with 5000 of these @ £4.42. What's the consensus on these, should we wait and see what imminent deal is floated, or should we cut and run? Quite a difficult one to call - is any likely deal with Stroll/Geely going to see a major dilution, albeit the company being in a stronger position? Thoughts anyone?
