Who has just shown up? I started following CERP (then Leni Gas & Oil) over 10 years ago and that is what has led me here. What is toxic about pointing out to folk that they are taking significantly bigger risks than the local rampers would have them believe and that, even if they do get lucky, their share of the prize will be nothing like what it could have been? It is the local rampers who have been discredited again and again, not the sceptics.

The offshore bit was what we expected. Still disappointing for a company with one third of its production offshore and with offshore development plans, but while those plans are kept on ice there will hopefully be news on other fronts.

I would put that down to the litigation and the death spiral funding. Otherwise I’m sure it would have been over 4p at this stage (whether that was sensible or not).

But no amount of technical experience and insight is going to tell those invested here whether their 35% chance of oil and significantly smaller chance of commercial oil is going to come up. Folk like CoMan are paid to do a difficult job well and paid whether commercial oil is found or not.

If BPC hit commercial oil the share price will rise. But imagining that 20p is still on the cards ignores everything that has happened over the last few months. Dilution and politics have limited the upside and death spiral funding has enhanced the downside.

Because otherwise the nonsense posted on here by the local rampers just goes unchallenged. And none of the sceptical posters on here whose posts I can see are calling this down to zero. Even the ex-CERP assets have some value. And P1 could turn out to be a commercial discovery. It’s just a question of having an honest conversation about how likely that is and what it might mean in share price terms in light of all the dilution and politics.

How am I doing compared to the local rampers? Am I calling this better or worse than them? Check what they said about funding against what actually happened. Check what they said about the court case against what actually happened. Stop listening to the people who are telling you what you want to hear and have a good long objective look at what is actually going on here.

Nothing new but a worthwhile exercise given that not everyone will have been following the ins and outs of these reforms. It is also useful to have some figures to play with.
