Makes you lose faith in investing, I only bought here s couple of weeks back st 43p so made money( only a small amount) but when reading up on Ophir I really got the impression the BOD were turning this around and seemed intent on delivery value to LTH for the shit storm they have had to endure, how wrong was I. I would love to have a sit down with these crooks and have them talk me through where the think value is represented in this shocking offer.

It’s an absolute steel at 55p which stinks of corruption to me so if Medco didn’t follow through with an official bid they are very very foolish.

What’s the chances of this already being a done deal? Surely this has to be far to low for ii’s and is not delivery any sort of true value to shareholders?

First offer was put to the BOD in October when the sp was in 40’s. Terrible premium for a company producing nearly 30kboepd with virtually no debt.

What an absolute sell out, can’t see this getting much traction surely?

We sold 20% of Tanzania to pavilion energy for $1.3 B? Or was that included the farm out to shell? Tanzania has to be valued at an absolute minimum of $200M as a stand alone asset. SEA $400M Mexico acerage I’m not sure but as it’s the new hot spot those blocks say $50M? Total (conservative)value of $650 for Ophir £492M (70p per share).

Why have we not poked any holes in these blocks given the huge potential there?

Thoughts on the offer guys? Coukd we sell SE assets for 58p and maybe farm out Tanzania in one deal? I’d prefer a full sale of around 70p but if we just sell SEA it leaves us very isolated does it not?

I hope Ophir get a fair bid tommorrow or Monday, anything 60p plus and I’ll be putting all my holding and profit in here as a top up. If not that looks to be a great company for anyone looking for other investments mid term.

Held up well today when every other stock in my portfolio has taken heavy hits.

Has happened today? Have I missed something?

I don’t have the charts to hand but I’m sure the original offer was when poo was similar to now and the sp was around these levels also? Have Medco just watched the sp drop and get greedy reducing their bid? Let’s be honest they will have wrote fortuna off in there valuation anyway so that was just another reason to try take the piss.

I feel like the recovery in oil could give Medco an excuse to revert back to their first bid without looking to foolish. 58p at the absolute minimum, tempted to grab some more shares but then if you can’t control that greed you can’t control your money.

Your last paragraph hits the nail on the head for me as I think we have seen the bottom for oil now and in 6 months we will be creating some serious revenue,I too think Medco won’t let this opportunity slide.

On the other hand I won’t be dissapointed if nothing comes from these negotiations as we will see 70-80p by year end regardless if poo keeps stable.
