Considering the environment 10% is not too bad

The SP was priced for bad news. Sales remain quite robust and company still investing for when things improve. Ill maybe pick up some more. Ill see what it opens at.

And Asos will be fine too... i have shares in boohoo and asos. will try not to post again after being down the pub with colleagues on a friday night lol slight incoherant

Posted that too early before I wrote the rest... anyway government actions are inflationary and will harm longer term.

Regardless of the government actions which are reckless and politically motivated, Boohoo will be ok over the long run. Of you dont need the money tied up in shares in the short should be alright when normality returns.

Government has done wrong thing cutting tax for the middle income and high income families.. Help should be concentrated on the poor, not on the well off. Because the purpose of tax is to redistribite wealh and control inflation.

Boohoo is currently trending on the Mytopcashback (MTCB) website. As they are offering 25% cashback. Then you click through you then get offered a further 20% off or 25% off via app.

So Boohoo really going for the sales and they are number 1 on MTCB +484% up trending traffic not surprising with a deal like this. Looks like its boosting sales but is it making money?

Is it a grab for more customers who may repeat buy? Season feels like its starting to turn to autumn so makes sense to clear out?

Anyhow I am confident Boohoo are gonna be ok and will average down if need be. Revb was a bit a confidence for me that the business was generating enough cash to feel confident investing.

Inflation is down slightly and that was a good sign for me to average down.

Why is this not up more today?

Yep the fast fashion industry has not imploded in fact sales were good over summer after all - despite Joules blaming dry weather for their poor performance. Lol

@s-coaster there was a comment on the super dry board wishing they could only opperate online.

There is widely that feeling that highstreet could eventually die. I think it will actually but we are looking at the distant future when the current generation grows into their 50s and 60s untill then it will on average decline.

Boohoo in the long run will do very well i reckon.

Liz Truss seems to see herself as the saviour though. #inlizwetruss. Dont know if that is a new hashtag or I just invented it but it sounds good so ill go with it.

Sept 8 (Reuters) - Associated British Foods (ABF.L) warned of lower profit next year, as its Primark fashion brand contends with worsening costs and increasingly cautious customers who are dealing with an income squeeze, sending shares to nearly a decade low.

They also provided a big postive though that sales were remaining resilient. They have not put prices up so it looks they are competing for market share rather than putting up margin. Importantly they feel they can afford to do so. So the crisis is looking very survivable gor cheap fashion.

Will be all good long term I reckon.

Boohoo clothing is cheap and people shop at cheap places when confidence about money is low. So by its self low consumer confidence not that bad right. Its the inflation which is the key thing as it determines if profitable margins can be achieved and we all know inflation is not ideal.

To be fair these stats from the UBS release dont surprise me as there were many struggling even before inflation hit, I was giving a presentation a couple of months ago on 2021 data and mentioned an MPAS survey which out of memory indicated that 22% of adults dont save and almost half would have savings lasting less than three months if they lost income suddenly.

The UK is tale of two halves... on one side wealthy and the other half poor, scraping by or spending about what they earn so always customers for boohoo looking to save.

I am bullish on Boohoo given that I think inflationary pressures will ease over the next few months. Hopefully already seen the low SP point when it dipped below 40.

We will see. I like the fact that shorts will need to close also as should help get the SP back up.

We are also getting some better predictions around inflation. Goldman Sachs have also back tracked on their 20% + inflation prediction instead saying it will peak at 10.8% in this month.

Many now saying that tomorrows measures will get it under control.

Breaking in telegraph. Economist has confirmed that Truss's energy plans should bring inflation under control. Amazing.

Market is reacting postively to government plans to intervene in the energy markets to keep money in poeple's pockets. :-)

So Sunday Times said bottom of 20 to 60 million consensus for profit.... but that is already what the consensus estimate says on ASOS website.

I dont understand the drop today. Could be the gas pipeline news from end of last week?

Much more visable in the Times right now is the potential freezing of energy bills. 'A support pakage to rival furlough'

With 42% of sales in 2021 by UK customers, ASOS will react very favourably to this. We are talking very big numbers.

A senior government official has said £69 billion and Truss has not ruled out £100 billion according to the Times online.

The short of it is... consumer confidence will probably increase on the back of such assistance and media should settle down on its 'cost of living crisis mantra' hopefully. The blue media brigade will also push Truss and her economic policies. I think.

Will be interesting to see how the value of shares react as other countries announce their support packages too - following in Germany's footsteps.

I think the Sunday Times artical yesterday by the way seems far fetched to me in terms of saying profit at lower end. I find it difficult to believe that management in the know (there wont be many given the vast global reach of ASOS) would waste their valuable time giving negative info to analysts. What would be their motivation for doing that? Also the penalties for inside information are pretty harsh.

Interesting week ahead anyway.

Slightly unfair that ASOS only got a 3% rise and boo got almost 9% rise today but maybe that bodes well for Monday for ASOS as could be a bit underbought on that little rally.

I did a bit of a test and ordered two pakages from ASOS and Boohoo with some cheap t-shirts. ASOS arrived first and interestingly ASOS are now appearing on my LSE advert screen ... clever.

Showing me the t-shirts I almost bought. I know these clothes are not aimed at 40 year olds but it certainly makes me feel more youthful wearing them. They are not bad.

Anyway these shorters will get caught eventually. As the market forward prices expected bad news. The only reason they win is because things get worse than first imagined and comes down to a bit of luck. But at some point things will get better !!!

Positive from the Motley Fool today. I would agree that longer term from these levels shareholders should do very well.

I also think that the absolute low before a decent material recovery in the SP depends in the interim results which i think are due out end of month.

How can they possibly make those predictions. Sniffs of shorting involvement.

I would just like to point out that the media are currently over egging this to get readers as per usual and creating fear is best way to do this.

Oil is falling in price. Gas has come off its high point and the unemployment rate has rarely been lower in decades as recently pointed out by Nadhim Zahawi.

There are alot of young poeple in Boohoos target market still living at home and not as affected by price rises.

Annual pay growth is also picking up pace a biy. Just saying. We are also likely to see the new priminister give some help to young poeple in some form or another so sit tight.

This will be ok longer term I think.

I do have an eye on the unemployment figures. For me this is a much greater factor going forward.
