A further thought. Logically if it was timed right that CH1 extention pipeline could be constructed by the same company laying the main pipeline.

It could save some money if making use of an already mobilised pipeline crew

Although it seems as has been said all along that CH1 will be drilled before re visiting NT1. Given the locations and proximity of NT1 and NT2 I can understand why NT1 would come into production first alongside NT2.

As I understand from some mapping I've seen in the past, the pipeline to Mdimba will come in from the north to NT1/2 The new location of CH1 is further south and to the west, so as you say once CH1 is proven up, the rig is likely to continue on to NT1 as planned. Meanwhile there will need to be a relatively short infrastructure link constructed to the main pipe line from CH1

As they appear to be looking at progressing the new supply closely afterwards perhaps the permissions etc are already being put in place for that short pipeline. May be another reason for this added slight delay? Obviously each new well is going to need it's own link into the chain.
