LTI, that's something we should all keep in mind, I last doubled my shares here @ 86p i would like to see this rise a bit above that so i can sell them off at a bit of a profit( hopefully), as for the remaining half i will decide on that at the time
But as you say for anyone wishing to hold this long time they would benefit from the share price staying down
Dan, your welcome, hope you had a good holiday, i can't think of a better way to spend dividend money, talking of which as longterninvester pointed out it doesn't seem to have had any impact on the share price so far
Warthog4, well in theory it should drop the same amount as the dividend plus or minus any market changes on the day, but where this will go in the weeks months after xdiv is anyone's guess, i wish i knew the answer to that one, as we don't know what effect any interest rate drops will have
Hi Dan, doesn't bother me at all mate, why should it, I have even taken the mickey out of him a few times, a bit pointless all this name calling, i would prefer to talk about how we can get the best returns for our investments on the stock market
What are your thoughts on next years dividend cut? , not sure about yourself but i would like to see the share price here rise as soon as possible, not thinking of 5 or 10 years time, so anything that can push this up sooner rather than later i'm all for it
Spikeyj, Yes that is another option, my gut feeling is to just hold and take the dividend and should it drop back a lot add more, It's a good feeling though when a share goes above your expectations, it doesn't happen very often these days
Cheers
We all know gutter is a bit of a crackpot, but nobody in their right minds would take his comments seriously, he's just having a laugh and i don't see anything nasty about his comments, it's the people who keep shouting insults at him are the ones with the real problem, you know full well that nothing he says here is not going to make the slightest difference to the share price, so why are you being so abusive, grow up guys, we are hoping the share price will go up here, but obviously theirs some mixed opinions on how successful this will be
Hi all, I have an average here of £3.90 so over 25%profit, if i sell and it drops back to 3.90 in the next few months i will be very pleased with myself for taking the profit, if i hold and it drops back to 3.90 i will have the dividend but will have lost that profit, the other scenario is if i hold take the dividend and it may not drop much
good position to be in, but i guess which ever decision i make it will be the wrong one, if only i had a crystal ball
Not sure why anyone would want to sell a month before xdiv but i guess they have their own reasons, but i agree the share price is a bit underwhelming, if it reaches 2.60-2.65 i will be selling some off and adding to my funds, if you take inflation into account we should be seeing a new high at this time of year, Aviva was my only share to finish in the blue today
CJ39, I hope your right about that, also the way i see it is i have an average here around the 380s and if i sold i probably wouldn't be able to buy them back for that price, also i would be happy to buy more should it drop back a bit further than i expect, I don't like shares where you can end up losing more of your capital than you get back in dividends, unfortunately i already have one of them, so that's my famous last words lol
Good luck to all holders
Zac, that is very true, but as far as UK shares go this is one of the better ones, it's been full dividend payments with no loss of capital here for myself, you could do an awful lot worse, I'm looking to sell around 25% off if it should reach 2.65 by exdiv, but should it drop to around 220 ish weeks or months later, i would probably buy them back, i'm all for around 65-70 % in international funds, but quite happy to have a small selection of reliable shares in the mix
Good evening Trigger happy. A.K.A sidi lol, A very good day, hope those sales work out well for you, I don't have a large holding here, so was thinking if it should drop back to the 1.90s i will probably add more, hoping to sell some of lgen before exdiv, but waiting to see how high it can go, good thing is i finally managed to sell off some of my Lloyds shares at a profit @ 51.55 it's been a very long wait to get them into profit, let's hope the upward trend can continue
best of luck
