Good point toneman, but is it actually written in as a set $88m anyway ? Was it something that NEL needed ?
Could NEL just dump the job and sell capacity ( basically that is what they wanted Nikola for and vice versa ) to a new customer ?
As I suggested before Nikola to me was just a good PR deal , really the big money is in the deals that are with Governments and major energy companies , not a truck maker with a need for hydrogen? Sure you win some you lose some but as far as I know the deal is not dead ?
Yeah it would / will be an sp mover up if Nikola still want 444 electrolysers, but hey we both know there are other upsides here. I think I posted about 12 in the last 2 weeks. All different arrangements.
For me the US will still come good and nuclear will be a factor as is in the media ever more so.
Even musk said batteries and nuclear. The guy who is a US failure. Not doing too bad with the ev push is he.
Anyway, its late and as I posted last week I am now time short for deep research due to work , so please anyone reading this , follow up on tonemans good points.
All the best.

Any Nel link here ?
Personally I like no more than 20 posts a day. When some companies drop news there can be 100-200 posts about sp jumping 3p... The more that get hit with posts seems to relate to the amount of day traders and shorters who like to get people going either way to edge their positions?
I mainly post on NEL. hahaha, I am the only one for most of the week it seems, but I like it , its nice and quiet. Like NEL it just gets on with day to day business and lets the contracts do the lifting.
Hexagon Purus Management buy maximum amount of shares
https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2020/12/14/2144191/0/en/Hexagon-Purus-AS-Executive-management-buys-maximum-number-of-shares-under-management-investment-program.html
All good for Hexagon Composites.
"Further to that, hydrogen will make renewables relevant in a wider way; there are certain industries that are impossible to decarbonize without the use of hydrogen. If we consider the ammonia, steel, or cement industries, for example, there are no other realistic options for decarbonization. And, conveniently, many of the hard to decarbonize industries are already using (fossil based) hydrogen, so the switch to green hydrogen is natural and relatively easy."
I think the NEL CEO sums it up better than me. Nikola is a PR side show with limited risk to NEL.
Go back to June. The order book went from approx £48m to £92-94m in 2 weeks with 3 new orders for Korea, Europe and the "multiple electrolyser" order later in Nov disclosed
as Iwatani, Shell Toyota in the US. Approx £45m in only 2 weeks. The Nikola offer is £30m.
Is it a hole in the finances ??? I think you are confusing GM investing cash for shares in Nikola Corp only and not NEL ?
A - NEL's electrolyser supply deal has definately not been RNS'd as dead, infact GM are still going to work with Nikola Corp BUT GM are NOT investing cash in to Nikola Corp. That is nothing to do with NEL's finances, so you may be getting a bit mixed up ? B - In 3 weeks in June NEL made an approx 100% increase in the order book, that is not counting the other orders after June of which the have been several.
Yara Intetnational ( ammonia ) deal signed at the end of 2019 is the one to watch in Australia & Norway as both open up exporting to Asia ( Norway Japan and Korea talks to do this ) and obviously the easy export in to Europe. This quiet unsexy deal could well be the big money maker.
Oh , keep an eye on the NEL spin off Hexagon Composites and now the spin off from then called Hexagon Purus. They are also making quiet but major steps especially in the US and are back up plan to cover for GM with Nikola if the deal does not go through. This is stated in the market media , somewhere? Check out my many posts, I am sure I posted a link to it, I normally try and provide evidence about what I post so people can go further and do their own research.
Don"t ever believe me, but go check out what I suggest. I could easily be wrong and I am happy to be corrected.
Gotta go now, work calls.
Hi captbonio.
All I can say is Nikola Corp, who do seem to be a Tesla type of company who are heavily targeted / hated by many for daring to do something with no money, but even the hate and vitriol thrown at Musk on a daily basis has not altered the focus and drive to being No#1 in EV car sales.
So with regard Nikola Corp itself , I am not invested BUT I believe they will produce a product requiring hydrogen.
Even in the test phase they need hydrogen stations.
This is ONLY where NEL come in. NEL have nothing to do with making Nikola Trucks or any other capacity , purely the supply of electrolyser units H2station's for Nikola.
The $30m is to buy a chunk of the production supply from NEL's new fully automated factory being built in Heroya, Norway due Q2/3. It will initially produce 160+ electrolysers a day. The majority of that production has been and will go to other parties and projects away from Nikola Corp.
Nikola Corp is a small % of the money , but the biggest PR name. NEL are working with the US Government on Nuclear Energy & Next Generation Electrolysers that reverse power supply and increase markedly the energy created v a normal electrolyser stack. Deals in the US with Shell and Toyota. Deals in Korea for their main hydrogen hub , 200+ units. EU / Norway steel production convesrion from steam to Hydrogen.
Finally and the biggest by far any ammonia project NEL sign up for will blow the doors off any deal in comparrison to the current high profile deal with Nikola.
Ammonia is one of the highest producers of CO2 in the world and the REALLY BIG money is rushing in to any ammonia project it can buy. Ammonia is the big pay day and big pay off regards global warming. Governments will throw huge amounts of money at it and will allow many projects to fast track imho also generating a quicker return on loans and investment grants
I hope this helps. Don't get too hung up on Nikola. NEL only supply the electrolysers nothing else, for cash.
Mitsui Co. Japan, hold 25% stake of Hexagon Composites.
Lets not forget that factor in anyone buying or holding this share. Japan is at the forefront of hydrogen as a power source. Watch this space. With NEL asa Hydrogen spinning off Hexagon Composites and Hexagon Energy NEL are really the head of the group with tenticles spread around the world. NEL after all make the most hydrogen electrolysers in the world. A big big advantage to scale up of any project partner.

Thyssenkrupp Electrolysers will be working along side STEAG Energies to use heat and water steam to help reduce the large CO2 footprint of some German steel production.
NEL already are using this type of energy generation and reduction of CO2 from steel with Norways largest steel producer, so it is a process we will hear much more about with the big industrial creators of CO2 who need to reduce this output.

"150 electrolysis UK and Germany, E.on said on Tuesday. The German energy group explained that the partnership will bet on the Power-to-X technology that uses surplus power for electrolysis to produce green hydrogen. The duo’s idea is, through the VPP, to control the process automatically and shut down hydrogen production during periods of high power demand. The process will be managed by E.on’s VPP software.
This approach, according to the companies, will make hydrogen electrolysis plants “electricity market ready,” while the VPP network will contribute to compensating power fluctuations during renewables generation.
The method has been successfully tested in a pilot project, called Carbon2Chem, which used a 2-MW power plant in Duisburg, Germany."
