You don't need a degree in Finance to comprehend that a company with 650m debt, that is losing money, operating in an extremely competitive market is higher risk than the S&P 500.

VERY few UK companies have faired so badly since Calamonte took over in summer 2022.

In fact, the share price needs to TRIPLE in order to get back to where it was when he took over.

The fact that he's still in charge after 2 years of pain and misery, including an 'unexpected' rights issue (right after a press release confirming cash is fine) just simply baffles. Probably he's still there because nobody else wants to be boss of a failing company.

If you know anything about investing, there's something called risk adjusted returns.

When assessing your returns, you need to benchmark it against the market for a similar level of risk.

NB if you invested in an S&P passive index fund in the last 2 years you'd be c. +40% now, vs c. -50% in ASOS

The share price needs to almost triple to get back on track with a passive index fund of the S&P.

I’ve been around long enough and sadly this is how the story ends… another mega-dilutive equity raise and/or restructuring through administration. A ticking time bomb to the refi in 2026

Return to growth will be pushed back 'another 6 months' and revenue decline will be bigger than expected (i.e. more than 15% which is insane given the inflation rate)

I expect Calamonte to blame it on bad weather and geopolitical uncertainty/ UK riots - as always blaming everyone else but himself..

Much like some of you on here, blaming the abysmal SP performance on 'market manipulation' from short sellers and then burring you head in the sand to avoid seeing the obvious ... this company has no long term future

I guess we’ll find out in a few months. I expect revenue decline more than expected, delay in “return to growth” sugarcoated by Calamonte with drop in inventory levels and positive cash flow (albeit one off as it will be directly related by selling out outdated stock)

Asos is in lockstep with Ted Baker for some time now..

Loss making, cash flow negative

Huge levels of debt

Decline in revenue & Falling out of fashion

Change in CEO

Surprise equity raise

I expect a profit warning and revised guidance from ASOS ahead the October results.

Following that, the market's attention will likely turn to assessing whether the company is heading towards bankruptcy, which, given the current circumstances, appears to be a realistic possibility.

-60% down since Calamonte took over 2 years ago

Now that the markets have recovered from yesterday's rout, why is ASOS's still not moving?
