The market for this type of floor is big and it's growing. As well as warehouses and factories, the company is now developing new machines for concrete levelling in high-rise buildings. In a trading statement today, the firm confirmed that performance so far this year is "ahead of the comparable prior year period" and that full-year results should be in line with market forecasts. Why I'd buy this business Somero is the leader in this sector in the US and a number of other markets. As well as designing, selling and servicing its screed-levelling machines, it provides training and support to customers. The whole package forms a premium offering in a market where the cost of failure is very high. In my view, this firm's customers are unlikely to switch to cheaper rivals, because the risks would outweigh any modest savings. This is also an extremely well-run company. After entering the financial crisis with too much debt, Somero's long-serving management team has learned its lesson and built a net cash buffer that should enable it to ride out a market downturn without any drama. This process has been made easier by the group's high profit margins and strong cash generation. Last year saw the firm generate an operating margin of 30% on sales of $85m. Net cash was largely unchanged at $19m, despite $13.9m of dividend payments in 2017. Looking ahead, the stock trades on 14.5 times 2018 forecast earnings, with a prospective yield of 2.2%. If the performance remains strong, I think there's a good chance this payout could be boosted by a special dividend. Although the group is exposed to cyclical risks in the US construction market, I'd keep buying after today's news."

Finncap retain their 24p target here per the news wires: "With Surface Transforms's Aston Martin hypercar going into production in the first quarter of 2019, the company should move to a point of generating positive cash flow from operations, says finnCap. Surface Transforms said it expects revenue growth to continue in fiscal 2019, particularly from the Aston Martin project, and that work required to achieve vehicle certification for the project is on track. finnCap maintains a 24 pence target price on the stock. Surface Transforms shares are up 1.4% at 18.75 pence."

Progress is slow but steady and is obviously getting there, with financing looking reasonable. Above all production schedules are starting to get pretty close now, with Aston Martin due to commence in Q1'19. I do like the closing statement: "We are serving a potential £2bn automotive brake disc market where a monopoly supplier currently has sales of over £100m. Our customers want us to succeed in providing a second source of supply to the industry." And: "the Board and management team remain confident that the testing required to achieve engineering sign off from OEM 3 and OEM 5 will be completed in the current calendar year."

Much improved results, with positive EBITDA and $15.5m net cash. But most importantly....NTQ made $4m of sales in H2 compared to only $2.5m in H1, and achieved $0.5m EBITDA in H2 (up from a $0.3m loss in H1). This year then, we can hopefully see a minimum of $1m EBITDA, and potentially quite a lot more given the rate of growth. More from Berenberg FYI - here they now have a 225p target price: "XLMedia (XLM) has released a trading statement this morning which indicates that its 2018 results will now be marginally lower than those in 2017A. This is largely the result of a number of regulatory oneoffs. While in the long run these favour XLM, they have created a negative short-term impact. Reflecting these, we reduce our estimates by c12%. With the business model still solid, the company accelerating its efforts in the US and the company in evaluation stages for a number of deals, we would view a pullback in the shares as an entry point for longer-term investors. XLM shares trade on c12.9x cash-adjusted P/E (16.5x normalised) with a c6% FCF yield. We remain buyers but move our one-year price target to 225p."

Ah those sweet words..."ahead of market expectations". Plus re JWE, "an encouraging reaction to pre-launch marketing including digital pre-order sales". And "a broad portfolio of franchises" to be announced.... Excellent stuff. And Finncap have raised their target price to 1750p, and they note that "there is significant room for earnings outperformance on even a relatively meagre revenue beat as shown by this trading update." They're retaining current forecasts until there's more visibility re JWE's success. No doubt at that stage the target price will be raised substantially assuming things go as well as indicated at present.

Finncap have increased their target price to 450p (from 415p). The dividend is better than forecast: "The board has demonstrated confidence with a greater dividend than expected, accelerating to a 40% payout ratio ahead of schedule, growing the dividend 20% rather than 15%E." Their forecasts are now 20.1p EPS this year and 22.4p EPS next year. They conclude rather encouragingly: "iomart represents quality through visibility and cashflow"

Another set of excellent results, with a very confident outlook going forward. Good to see an early tick up on decent volumes with 100k+ already traded - including four separate 25k buys. And the buy price has been steadily rising. Hopefully this means the overhang which has been around has almost or is cleared. There's plenty to be optimistic about, especially at this price...... - a �1.2m PBT and 2p+ EPS forecast this year by both WH Ireland and Hybridan - a very positive "ahead of expectations" AGM statement - large order books and revenue visibility - an earnings-enhancing acquisition - �1m+ net cash - participation in two growing sectors (rail infrastructure and electronic counter-measures)

From today's Sunday Times - Two Sisters are selling their pie division, which might make an interesting acquisition for VLE as an industry consolidation play for Shire Foods. It's impossible to know how much of the mooted �50m price for both pies and fish the pie business would represent, but I suspect it's probably more than the Landers are prepared to pay. However, I'd also suggest that the Landers might see potential here. If the acquisition price was indeed cheap, and within VLE's means and their �20m or so cash pile, then adding it onto Shire with the resulting synergies and efficiencies might just present a bargain opportunity. It might also make the eventual sale of Shire that much easier and attractive as part of a much larger entity. Very pleasing AGM statement, with everything going smoothly and ahead of last year. And unlike last year, every region and every product category is contributing well. Great to see the encouragement of participation in the AGM via webcast too.
