Brilliant news - a real game-changer for GAN. It "represents a material increase in the value of the partnership to GAN across revenue share, professional services and patent licensing fees".

It’s time for Questor’s share tip of the year.

As we did last year, we have approached the fund manager responsible for this column’s best-performing tip and asked him which stock he feels most enthusiastic about today.

That fund manager is Gervais Williams of Miton, who in March 2017 put Questor on to IG Design, which gained 120pc before we sold it in September last year.

For 2019, Williams has high hopes for Aim-quoted SafeCharge, whose advanced technology helps retailers to process card payments.

"Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has been contracted for a major project to deliver a range of fire solutions at Brunel Street Works – a residential-lead regeneration scheme in Canning Town, London.

Galliford Try Partnership is constructing 975 mixed-tenure homes at the site off Silvertown Way in Canning Town on behalf of Opal, a joint venture between Galliford Try and Thames Valley Housing. The £400m development project, which has a four-year construction programme, will see the homes built across five distinct blocks, ranging from nine to 26 storeys in height. PTSG’s Fire Solutions division (north-west branch, formerly UKS) will deliver wet/dry risers, commercial and residential sprinkler systems across the whole project.

The project illustrates PTSG’s rapidly growing capability in Fire Solutions. Since it was established in 2017, Fire Solutions has become the Group’s second-largest division and as demand continues to grow, it could become the largest. PTSG delivers multiple niche specialist services and often forms sustainable relationships with clients who benefit from access and safety, electrical services and building access solutions, also offered by the Group."

For the record, HYG are now paying a 10p special dividend - the ex-div date is Thursday, so evidently a few people are keen to get in before then!

I hope there will be more share buybacks given the obvious value here, with the £33m m/cap barely equalling the cash pile, let alone the almost £3m deferred consideration receivable plus the value of Shire Foods - including the freehold property - and Sira Defence.

We could also get a huge special dividend - this should cause a very decent share price rise.

I do also believe the Landers may have achieved optimum timing in offloading Impetus when they did.

VLE should be getting plenty of proposals through the doors at present. Hopefully another bargain purchase will presage another step up in the share price.

SBTech has a new Non-Executive Chairman in Gavin Isaacs, the former CEO of Scientific Games (SG).

The company is making the appointment to firm up its credentials in the rapidly growing US market. SBTech CEO Richard Carter said:

...Gavin’s two decades of successfully leading, transforming, and acquiring some of the biggest businesses in the gaming sector will be a massive advantage for us, particularly in the US where we have already partnered and gone live with several large brands across multiple states and where there are many more opportunities to grow.

Sizing up the US market

The sports betting opportunity may be enormous, but the US market is intensely competitive.

One of SBTech’s biggest competitors is Isaacs’ former employer, SG. SG is partnered with Caesars and has sports betting up and running in casinos in New Jersey and Mississippi.

Caesars’ Pennsylvania property Harrah’s will open for sports betting soon, with SG again providing the sports betting platform.

Isaacs will definitely help counter the competition, but SBTech is already making a significant mark on the US market.

SBTech operates sportsbooks in New Jersey for Churchill Downs, Resorts Atlantic City and the Golden Nugget.

In Mississippi, the company has three locations up and running:

Harlow’s Casino Resort & Spa in Greenville
Riverwalk Casino Hotel in Vicksburg
Golden Nugget Casino in Biloxi

The first two are operated by Churchill Downs and use the BetAmerica brand, which it will also launch in Pennsylvania.

Churchill Downs recently took over the Presque Isle Downs casino and has submitted a sports betting application to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) naming SBTech as its partner.

SBTech, GAN have an even bigger footprint

In a prescient move, months before the Supreme Court ruling on PASPA, SBTech formed a partnership with GAN.

The deal signed in January 2018 announced the companies would integrate their technology for sports betting:

“SBTech’s sports betting solution will be integrated with GAN’s GameSTACK™ enterprise software platform and delivered to players through both online and retail channels. GAN’s clients in the US represent more than 70 casino properties from coast to coast, generating annual revenues in excess of US $8 bn in land-based casino gaming.”

On top of the Pennsylvania properties served by SBTech, GAN has partnerships with the Valley Forge Casino and the Parx Casino. The PGCB gave both approval to offer sports betting.

Nice upgrade today from Davy Stockbrokers in Ireland:

"Keywords Studios is poised to benefit from the industry's move to cloud-based gaming, Davy says, upgrading the stock to outperform from neutral. The Dublin-based provider of services to videogame developers continues to grow its sales above the industry average and should benefit further in 2019 and 2020 from the shift to cloud gaming, Davy says. As key players invest substantially in cloud gaming, Keywords stands to gain in areas such as the re-engineering of existing gaming content and its porting to cloud platforms, as well as in testing and language-and-support services, the brokerage says."

Last year's year end statement was on 12th January - not long now. Given the interim outlook, it should be good:

"The Group continues to benefit from a good balance sheet and a strong forward order book of £20 million which has been further enhanced with the recently announced award of three contracts totalling over £6.5 million from Bombardier and Siemens."

"The Board is also pleased with the performance of its more recent acquisitions, QRO and RTS, and continues to review other acquisition opportunities."

"With the June 2018 order book containing revenues of approaching £10 million for the second half of 2018 and almost £8 million for 2019, the Board remains confident in the future prospects for the Group."

The share price is moving up nicely again, as it has almost every day since the New Year.

Based upon the current forecast of 12.43p EPS for this year, PTSG are on a 2019 P/E of only 12.3.

Assuming that PTSG will soon be on the acquisition path again given the cash pile, one can see that P/E dropping to just 10 or 11.

Hopefully too the upcoming trading update will indicate that PTSG traded at least in line with expectations for last year, especially given the very positive outlook in late September.

Premier Technical Services Group PLC (PTSG) has started work on its largest wet riser system yet: at the 75-storey Landmark Pinnacle skyscraper on the Isle of Dogs, London.

Landmark Pinnacle is a 239-metre skyscraper under construction by developer Chalegrove Properties. It is set to be the tallest residential building in Europe and will have more habitable floors than any other building in the UK.

The system is split across three risers – low, mid and high – to provide wet risers across the 75 storeys above ground and two below ground level. The pumping system was commissioned in June to allow the system to be used during construction phase for firefighting purposes.

PTSG has significantly boosted its Fire Solutions capability in recent months, with the acquisition of market-leading companies in different areas of the country. With demand for its life-saving services continuing to grow, it is forecast to become the largest of the Group’s four business divisions."

Note also from the RNS:

Last year's update was on 16th January, so not long to go. It should be rather good given the outlook from the interims:

"We remain both confident about continuing the positive revenue and profit momentum which is evident in the Group's results for the first six months of 2018 and also enthusiastic about our prospects for the future."

Numis has upgraded EPS forecasts to 11.9p for last year and 12.4p this year (2019). PTSG is extremely cheap on that basis imho.
