Having met them in person and seen the whites of their eyes, I'm not sure I agree... Purely and simply I think they just want to focus on the science. They believe that the science will come good, and that PIs need to trust them to get on and do their job.
I realise that isn't everyone's preferred approach and that it has its pros and cons. It's fair to say they have stretched PI patience at several points in the recent past, and have made some mistakes along the way, but I do think they're a decent, honourable, well-intentioned, and highly talented board (which is more than you could say for 98% of AIM companies).
Even with the grant, they got a lot of flak for not having the application in within weeks. Rather than rushing headlong into the process they took their time – presumably to get all of their ducks in order – and that for me is the mark of a careful and meticulous approach. The best in class, not first in class.
I've been here 12 years or so now, and I never thought it would take this long, but I'm prepared to wait a little while longer. The investment case now is SO much better than it was when I first bought in, and I still believe that we will get a good return on our patience and faith in the not-too-distant.
Let’s hope Sareum do the “most wonderful extras”...
As for the unremittingly positive posters, they're unremittingly positive because they're invested and want/are expecting the price to go up rather than down. Call me stupid, but isn't that the point of investment?
I agree that the majority of those sorts of posters are not to be trusted, and may even be dangerous to the naive investor. Their agenda is usually pretty transparent – they're generally either deluded rainbow chasers or cynical rampers...
Penguins...
It just doesn't stack up for me.
As I've said previously, you clearly know your stuff and in fairness to you I think a lot of what you post is useful, but I just don't understand why you would waste your time waiting for "something positive" to happen to a company and a BOD you have so little faith in. Why would you bang your head against a brick wall?
It makes no sense at all to me, so I'm not sure if I'm missing something! Why wouldn't someone with your knowledge cut your (presumable?) losses and research another company that could actually make you some decent return without the heartache? Or if not that then at least just consign your UKOG stares to the bottom drawer and check in from time to time..?
Seriously, Penguins...
Why on EARTH are you still invested in UKOG – as you claim to be – when you have literally NOTHING positive to say about the company, its BOD, it's plans, and any of its licences.
I've nothing personal against you, but I just cannot understand the psychology of a poster like you, who obviously has sufficient industry knowledge to make shrewd investments in any number of AIM O&G companies and make yourself a decent return... And yet here you are week in week out criticising anything UKOG!
Don't get me wrong, a fair amount of what you post is useful – I've by no means drunk the UKOG Kool aid – but why do you remain invested, and invest so much time and energy in a company you are so relentlessly negative about?!?
And the BOD may have to make a statement... Something's afoot, but if it's a leak it's not from Sareum, as they've always been watertight. GLA...
I was intending to invest in NCYT but left it too late to get in. In retrospect I'd say it was something of a Novacyt.
I’m still convinced that Penguins = David Smythe...
1) knows his onions
2) relentlessly negative about anything UKOG
3) relentless to the point of obsessiveness
4) appears willing to spend a lot of his valuable time digging through old RNSs to argue points, even though...
5) clearly not a shareholder due to (1)-(3)
Truly amazing that having the ability to access funding (via decimating a co’s market cap) is now considered something for the old aim ceo cv.
Can I invite you to the party my missus has organised for next weekend? I need someone to make all of the guests feel depressed so that they leave and I can be left in peace. Cheers!
Still wonder if it’s to do with the patents. Unless we’re looking at a lock-stock-and-barrel job...
Penguins has been busy :-)
Agreed - and I think it might happen sooner than we think. The govt need all viable options on the table for kickstarting the economy and I suspect won’t be too happy about nimbyism sticking a spanner in the works.
Honestly not sure that the comments of non-islanders will help. They could simply fan the flames of local ire tbh!
Or David Smythe!
Absolute zero is -273 degrees C - we’re still a way off that
The thing is, Penguins, you say you’re the voice of reality but come on now. You're not. Reality has positive and negative. Sun and rain. Yin and yang etc etc. It is not a constant Domesday scenario. Or even the dogsh*t on a new pair of white trainers. It's balanced.
The reason anyone who’s invested here struggles with your negative spin on literally everything UKOG, is not so much the negative spin, as the sheer relentlessness. Literally all of your posts are on UKOG and nothing else. It’s obsessive, frankly – you must spend hours on your posts. And I've been asking myself why for a while now.
Rampers tend to be relentless in their positive spin as they are trying to increase the share price so that they make money. Derampers tend to be relentless in their negative spin as they are trying to lower the share price so that they can make money shorting the share or buying in at a lower price. (And there are examples of posters in both camps here, for sure.)
You don’t seem to fit the deramper model, however. You have claimed in the past to be invested, which seems strange. It makes no sense when you are continuously trashing UKOG, or playing the sceptic in pretty much every positive scenario put forward. But at the same time I haven’t ever got the impression that you are shorting or trying to get in cheaper... Which also doesn't make sense if you are trashing UKOG.
You are obviously very well researched, and well informed – you clearly have expertise in the field. So I have to ask myself with all of that expert insight and dedication, why are you investing all of your time in doing UKOG down? Like it's your civic duty to other shareholders or something. Why not make your point that UKOG is a pile of crud and move on elsewhere, to make loads of cash on other shares you think are a much better bet?
I can only conclude that you have some sort of beef with UKOG – not a FOTH-type beef where you’ve lost money or faith, or some such – but you really do have an axe to grind... So a name occurred to me a while back that could fit the bill… Expertise; frustrated skepticism; dismissal of the whole Kimmeridge concept; and a long-standing grudge with UKOG.
You don’t happen to be David Smythe, do you?
From Alba’s March RNS: “ While we have not decided whether we will fund future cash requirements at Horse Hill, it is possible that we will decide not to fund, for a number of reasons including our desire to focus our efforts and expenditure on the mining projects which are under Alba's sole control. But regardless of whether Alba does or does not fund future cash calls, our investment in Horse Hill remains a near-term cash-generative opportunity for Alba. As such, and as we announced during the year, we are open to either retaining our stake in the Project through to permanent commercial production, when HHDL should generate material oil sales revenues, or to giving serious consideration to any third-party offer received prior to production which properly reflects the value of our stake.”
Sounds like SS has made an approach but the cash on the table wasn’t enough for them. Is the current delay and relative silence an attempt to force their hand? I for one believe SS has his sights set on acquiring 100 per cent of Horse Hill before the CPR.
JP writing articles about himself is a bit worrying, as is the reference to himself in the third person! He’s obviously drunk his own Kool Aid and unfortunately just comes across as a guy with a Messiah complex. Let’s hope he’s not just a naughty boy...
Don’t worry - JT is still around. He’s posting on ADVFN these days and in fine form.
