I’ll let you into I little secret I’m the least qualified person In my company I did my part one scaffolding course back in 1983 ho tell I lie I did a two day CDM course in 1996 my point scaffolding’s simple it’s not brain surgery it’s been around 1000’s of years heck they still build 30 storey building in the easy with bamboo.
So when some young HSE pri** asks me am
I qualified to assure him the jobs right I say 37 years says it is, or you could ask my scaffold designers with loads of shinny certification pinned on the walls.
Uk law DO states a competent person can inspect a scaffold don’t let them otherwise.
It’s all a money making machine that’s cost me huge amounts over the years you learn to drive and pass your test once, every two years our lads have to re train for again for something that never changes.

Done a couple of self builds when younger always used the best lads around, when you watch listen and learn from the old fellas you know how it’s to be done right.

I’ve had may builder mate here since September building a summer house he’s a perfectionist unlike me I’m sure he’ll be inspecting my work, I just like doing stuff at the weekends. Been at this old place for 22 years now you never really stop.
I’m saving the best till I retire my roof grey slate and it’s back pointed no felt it got done I’m 40 years since by two firemen from
Hedden bridge who use iron nails instead of oak pins the knobs.
I few more bits to do over Xmas off the scaffold it’s so peaceful up there gives you the time to think of nothing but what your doing.
