RE: Private Takeover15 Nov 2024 07:26
Markzipps, the post you read is not directly linked to the title. However, I do believe that a takeover cannot be entirely ruled out. While it may not be likely, it definitely cannot be dismissed. Cash in the bank is not barrier for this to happen. AIM markets are notorious for such events. It's baffling to me why some investors place so much trust in directors they've never met. It's business, dog eat dog, they do not give a sh--t about small-fry investors, only their own success.
When a company like ITM experiences a year-over-year decline in its stock price, especially the recent erratic behaviour despite positive fundamentals, it raises concerns. This pattern can precede a takeover. Until the situation improves, I won't dismiss the possibility of a takeover.
As with Velocys, I am well aware of their finances at the time, the point is that they misled shareholders with false optimism before blindsiding them with a sudden takeover announcement. Reading through the board then, the mood of that board was that so many investors where shocked and had been deceived. My intention isn't to spread fear, if you are smart enough you should not fall for tactics like that, but it's wise to remain cautious. Until ITM's stock price starts to rise, it's prudent not to rule out the possibility of adverse outcomes. Hope is for fools. As a side note, I want to be proved wrong here! Hoping for the day when I get an "I told you so" with a few more curse words thrown in. I will be the first so hold my hands up. Until then there are a ton of other places to invest without the mountain of risk that ITM has on offer.
