All businesses have business risks. For my sins I have been involved in drawing these up in the past.

These are usually listed in the annual report, as is the case with Avacta and discussed at board meetings throughout the year.

Some risks are more obvious than others, such as loss of premises and/or key staff and others are generally to do with funding/cash flow and third party links.

There doesn't appear to be anything unexpected in the business risks listed by Avacta and as an example, staff shares and share incentive plans have been put in place as part of the key staff retention mitigation.

It would also appear (to me) that funding has been adequately covered.

The reliance on third parties is something that all businesses have to deal with. For example, if a local grocer's supplier cannot fulfil their agreement then the local grocer either sells less or seeks out additional suppliers.

Not sure that there is anything in Avacta's list that is unexpected and I would be more worried if the list wasn't extensive.

If you read some of the earlier, more scientific, posts then you will see what I mean.

Dodgy is perhaps a bit strong but I am expecting much clearer results from our own tests, so the word was used in a comparative sense to what I believe we will achieve.

You can, of course, reach your own conclusions but the Sona outcome is a clear buy signal for Avacta in my humble opininion.

A small reduction in business rates would cover testing costs perhaps?

This would seem preferable to not receiving anything because a business has gone bust.

The cost would be far less than the furlough scheme and someone at The Treasury will be working this through.

Not sure it matters that RK got the wrong day. I think we all know that an RNS or six are due in the not too distant across many fronts. I think RK was primarily pointing out another avenue for an RNS.

Meanwhile and more importantly, we have seen a different and better start to the day than in the last week or so.

Will it last? No idea. If the strength of buying ahead of the expected news feeds continues then I would say yes. Happy to be shot down as ever but let's keep the perspective on what we know.
