Quob "target" prices2 May 2016 15:13
Perhaps I'm missing something but it would appear to me that quob buys shares in a company and then puts out info on twitter company blog etc with their target price. Or indeed stories in the press that imply there may be a takeover in the future. This is helped by RNS's that show RT/quob are crossing % ownership fresholds.
As Rob Terry is a very successful investor, the inexperienced investors believe the share will get near these targets and so they then invest. Once many have then invested, the share price rises and way before the "target" price is reached Quob sell all their shares. The share price drops significantly and all the investors who bought in are left with big losses.
Perhaps I'm mistaken but that's how it looks to me.
If that is the case, is that not market manipulation?
